This story has been widely provided internationally as a true story, and my source took it so. But after close investigation after the posts made here, I found a source saying that actually it is a literary exercise written by a Catholic priest. see liberlocorumcommunium.blogspot.com/2014/09/story-with-letter-of-sister-lucy.html
I am sorry for this misdirection, and perhaps some will find value in it all the same.
I appreciate the links you share to articles that are edifying. This just isn’t one of them for a lot of reasons. Perhaps someone will take away something away from the story but it could be the wrong thing. The priest who wrote the story and the blogger who linked it are looking at rape/sexual assault through a sentimental lens that minimizes the crime. This mindset is in part why bishops continued to place priests in positions where they would have access to victims and why some people act like it’s not a big deal and why rapists get a slap on the wrist instead of serious punishment and communities rally around rapists and vilify the victims. No thanks.
