Those of us who would like Pope John Paul II to eventually be known as Pope St. John Paul the Great will no doubt be encouraged by this article from Reuter’s. Apparently, a “relatively young” French nun was somehow cured of her Parkinson’s disease after asking Pope John Paul the Great to intercede on her behalf. The Church’s investgation into the healing has “cleared an initial probe by doctors.”

I just love that the miracle involves the same disease with which he was afflicted. It’s terribly poetic.

Santa Subito! This story makes me think of St Bernadette Soubirous who wouldn’t use the holy water at Massabielle for herself…

I don’ know the story. Please explain why. That also brings up the question of why JP didn’t pray for healing of his illnesses.

These are great news!!! I hope that could accelerate even more his canonization process…Of course;first comes the beatification, but still that’s a big plus!!!:bounce:

I remember hearing someone speak on Relevant Radio that there were several miracles that have occurred via Pope John Paull II’s intercession and that they were going to investigate just 1 of those right now because it was a biggie.

They didn’t say what they were but maybe because of the significance of Parkinson - that was it?

I don’t think God would have given such a wonderful Pontiff and not given us the means to sanctify him. It was only a matter of time. Sancto Subito!!

He may have prayed to be delivered, but I doubt it. He probably prayed for the grace to bear his cross faithfully.

Pray for us, Old Holy Father. Pray for your successor and your children who miss you.

Oftentimes in teh case of apparitions, saints etc. you hear of them purposely bearing their afflictions as an act of penance for themselves and others. So God may see their sufferring and have mercy on those they pray for.
