Like Sri Krishna’s wrathful form in the gita,
???
he is remembered in the western traditions as the lord of time, devouring the worlds!
Krishna is the originator, sustainer and dissolver of the world.

10.20 Arjuna, I am the self seated in the heart of all beings; so I am the beginning and middle and also the end of all beings.

This got into NT, sans reference to middle, the sustaining component.
One of nara Hari’s names is kalah!
Nope.
In the gita, Sri Krishna says “kalo smi.” “time i am, destroyer of the worlds.”
  1. 30 Among the Daityas (demons), I am Prahlada; and among among bases of
measurements, I am Time; among animals, I am the lion [the lord of
beasts ]; and among birds, Garuda (the vehicle of Visnu). [Garuda the Eagle].
Kala means TIME.
the lion headed form of Eli / Hari as time (search art history references for “leontocephalos time,” chronus, saturnus, zervan, apadamek, etc.) Was worshiped throughout the ancient world.

You might tell it to Gandhi too. Btw, is Gandhi in hell or heaven?
We don’t know. Besides, that does not serve as a valid counter point to what codebilly said, as far as I can see.

Dangerous only to those having weak or little faith in Our Savior Jesus Christ.
Dangerous to many.

2 Peter 2:1-3
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be among you lying teachers, who shall bring in sects of perdition, and deny the Lord who bought them: bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their riotousnesses, through whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you. Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their perdition slumbereth not.

Are the numerals and decimal system too incompatible with catholicism? Is that the reason why the RCC still uses roman numbering. Of course for money accounting it uses Hindu system.
Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s.

There is a spiritual meaning to different numbers.
No they are not. You may hold a spiritual significance to the numbers, we do not. They are for use in maths, counting etc and are used for their convenience, not for spiritual reasons.

Perhaps yoga asanas can be practiced not for spiritual reasons?🙂

Really? Hinduism a redacted Judeo Christian tought? Maybe time travel has been invented, and some christians travelled back to 5000 years BP to influence Hindu thoughts.

Remember, Rig Veda is older than the biblical creation.
Remember, Rig Veda is older than the biblical creation.
Prove it! That the Rg veda is 5000 years old is a total myth. Neither you or anyone else anywhere can produce a single text, papyrus, stone tablet, that pre -date the 1st or 2nd century AD. In fact, most oldest known written records of Hindu thought are from the 8th or 9th century.

You have no evidence.

On the other hand, it can be argued that the Heliodorus of the bible is responsible for introducing Krsna and Baladeva worship to India, along with the description of Kalki Avatar.

This is written about in the book of Maccabees. a text dating from sometime between 175 and 120 BC.

Maccabees was written in Koine Greek, probably in Alexandria[1], Egypt, c 124 BC.[2] It presents a revised version of the historical events recounted in the first seven chapters of 1 Maccabees, adding material from the Pharisaic tradition, including prayer for the dead and a resurrection on Judgment Day. – wikipedia

2 Maccabees Chapter 3:7-36

When Apollonius had an audience with the king, he informed him about the riches that had been reported to him. The king chose his minister Heliodorus and sent him with instructions to expropriate the aforesaid wealth. 3:7

23
Heliodorus went on with his plan. But just as he was approaching the treasury with his bodyguards,** the Lord of spirits who holds all power manifested himself in so striking a way** that those who had been bold enough to follow Heliodorus were panic-stricken at God’s power and fainted away in terror.

25
There appeared to them a richly caparisoned horse, mounted by a dreadful rider. Charging furiously, the horse attacked Heliodorus with its front hoofs. The rider was seen to be wearing golden armor.

26
Then two other young men, remarkably strong, strikingly beautiful, and splendidly attired, appeared before him. Standing on each side of him, they flogged him unceasingly until they had given him innumerable blows.

27
Suddenly he fell to the ground, enveloped in great darkness. Men picked him up and laid him on a stretcher.

28
The man who a moment before had entered that treasury with a great retinue and his whole bodyguard was carried away helpless, having clearly experienced the sovereign power of God.

29
While he lay speechless and deprived of all hope of aid, due to an act of God’s power,

30
the Jews praised the Lord who had marvelously glorified his holy Place; and the temple, charged so shortly before with fear and commotion, was filled with joy and gladness, now that the almighty Lord had manifested himself.

31
Soon some of the companions of Heliodorus begged Onias to invoke the Most High, praying that the life of the man who was about to expire might be spared.

32
Fearing that the king might think that Heliodorus had suffered some foul play at the hands of the Jews, the high priest offered a sacrifice for the man’s recovery.

33
While the high priest was offering the sacrifice of atonement, the same young men in the same clothing again appeared and stood before Heliodorus. “Be very grateful to the high priest Onias,” they told him. "It is for his sake that the Lord has spared your life.

34
Since you have been scourged by God, proclaim to all men the majesty of God’s power." When they had said this, they disappeared.

35
After Heliodorus had offered a sacrifice** to the Lord and made most solemn vows to him** who had spared his life, he bade Onias farewell, and returned with his soldiers to the king.

36
Before all men he gave witness to the deeds of the most high God that he had seen with his own eyes.

37
Heliodorus spread the worship of God and proclaimed His revelation as appearing in the form of 2 powerful, beautifully attired youthful young men

This is also verified by real archeology as it is proclaimed in India on a “Garuda Column” dated from the time period of Maccabees.

http://www.art-and-archaeology.com/india/8-05.jpg

The inscription on this column reads:

“This Garuda-column of Vasudeva (Visnu), the god of gods, was erected here by Heliodorus, a worshiper of Visnu, the son of Dion, and an inhabitant of Taxila, who came as Greek ambassador from the Great King Antialkidas (Antialcidas) to King Kasiputra Bhagabhadra, the savior, then reigning prosperously in the fourteenth year of his kingship.” — see Wikipedia

Therefore, it is clear that the Greek ambassador Heliodorus introduce Judeo thought into India and evangelized that part of the world.

Clearly, Maccabees Chapter 3, verse 34 and 36 convey that Heliodorus received “orders from God” to “proclaim to all men the majesty of God’s power”.

It is also interesting to note, that the etymology of the the word “Vasu” (God) inscribed on the Heliodorus votive column, is related to the Hebrew work “Yahu”, and the word “Vasudeva” is related to the Hebrew “Toba-Yahu”.

It is only logical to conclude, therefore, that the inscription on the Heliodorus column, when taken in context of the biblical record in Maccabees, could only be one of Heliodorus proclamations “to all men the majesty of God’s power” AND THAT Heliodorus had an influence on the spiritual beliefs of Vaisnavas.

OK. Point taken. That certainly is a fact.

Ecumenism and syncretism is the greatest heresy of our time.
Get over it. You should read the desert fathers. They abandoned everything, including the possession of owning a bible.

All the paraphernalia in Orthodox and Catholic worship is external. The desert fathers had no icons, no churches, no nothing, … nothing but God.

BTW … on my fathers side I am eastern rite, and my uncle was an orthodox hermit in the holy land. My mother is Catholic.

Go to the cave with as a hermit and you will find the liturgy of Silence is not sung in Old Slavonic, but it is millions of times more beautiful and anything that humans can chant or sing.

Thats exactly what I’ve been saying this whole time.
You can incorporate Yoga into your spiritual Catholic life, but only after great study and with great faith in Jesus Christ.

There are definitely dangers, and slippery slopes. Without being fully formed in Christ, Yoga present enough “truths” that one may get confused or suffer delusions of the false ego.

If we understand Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior and “The Truth”, then any Truth we hear from any source, is He Himself and we will only grow closer to Him if we are sincere.

If any Catholic or Christian wishes to study Astnaga yoga, the best path is as LDNCatholic suggests. Take it as exercise and offer your exercise to God in your own Catholic way.

What greater Yoga is there than that. All experience of God comes from God and if it happens that He wishes you to have a vision of Him, and a realization of one of His gifts or attributes, then “He is the doer” … not us.

Get over it.
Nah.
You should read the desert fathers.
I do–every day.
They abandoned everything, including the possession of owning a bible.
Most kept a Bible–but some abandoned even this.
All the paraphernalia in Orthodox and Catholic worship is external.
Christ gave us the visible Church (with her externals) and the sacraments as channels of sanctifying grace.
The desert fathers had no icons, no churches, no nothing, … nothing but God.
Many had Icons, candles, incense, Churches, etc.

It was usually the cave dwelling hermits that had nothing.

Interesting. 🙂

A true theologian has experienced God through His uncreated energies by noetic prayer.

There are very few true theologians. But I can tell you this much----they were not yogis. 😃

wrong … they were real yogis, just not the dry impersonal philosophers of the orient or those not yet receiving the fullness of the Gospel.

Ya’ know … everyone is not ordained to be a preacher ; ) … sometimes you have to be as clever as serpents

If they were “yoked” to God, then they were “yogis”.😃

Yoga: 1820, from Hindi yoga, from Skt. yoga-s, lit. “union, yoking” (with the Supreme Spirit), from Proto-Indo-European (PIE) base *yeug- “to join”.
Yoke: O.E. geoc “yoke,” earlier geoht “pair of draft animals,” from P.Gmc. *yukam… from PIE *jugom “joining” [from PIE base *http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=jugular”]yeug- “to join”].

As Jesus said, Matthew 11:30: “For my Yoke is easy, my burden is light.”

Christ gave us the visible Church (with her externals) and the sacraments as channels of sanctifying grace.
There’s no argument. As I said, yoga is a general term that means ‘a path to God’ to the majority of people in India.

If you come out and say “Yoga is bad” … to a religious and pious Hindu, they may immediately assume you are an atheist and turn a deaf ear.
