no offense taken, brian.

but no, no tree is my god. I believe that there is an order of gods that deal with nature, and that each god in that order are for certain aspects of nature. also, it’s not the gods fault, (unless he was angry), which i honestly doubt, but I don’t know your situation. I believe those gods only get wrathful when unjustness happens to the environment.

if that honestly happened to you, sorry about that. That sucks

i am trying to be respectful & understanding

what is your definition of a “god”?

in the catholic church it seems to me (and to about one billion +) other christians it is quite clear

Hello, this is my very first post here, so if I mess up, please forgive me. Now with that being said, I have some questions, and hopefully I can get some others views on this. I have some things I need to ask and maybe discuss, so I’m doing my very best to keep this on topic with this sub=forum, please understand that.

I’m researching Roman Catholicism, so that I can become knowledgeable on the subject, so that is why I joined. I have other questions I need to ask, but I decided I’d make this thread, since I lurked here before, and noticed a lot of, “Ask a __ anything” threads. I’m also a little bored and lonely with nothing to do at the moment, so I wanna interact a little bit with some people, so ask anything that you would like to ask, and I will answer it to the best of my power.

Thanks.

Do you think Catholicism is part of paganism?

I’m sorry you’re lonely
Hugs and I hope you find a friend soon.

Hello and welcome Joe,thanks for the invitation to ask 🙂
I hope you find the answers you are seeking in life.

No, I do not believe that they are created beings. I believe that they existed forever. Anything that is natural never lasts forever, but anything supernatural lasts forever in my beliefs.
How is it that a large number of distinct supernatural beings can exist without something that caused their existence?

It seems to me that if there are a large group of supernatural gods no one of them could exist necessarily without tearing asunder the whole system. 🤔

Well, I personally believe that there is a God for everything on Earth and for matters in the spiritual world, all keeping each other in check, and each following an order. I do not believe one supreme deity, rather that all that exists is ‘God’, and ‘God’ is made up of these separate orders, that govern all the planes of existence, and all of the earth.
Why do you believe all that?

Joe,

What I hear is that you are searching. Searching for the truth, hopefully, because lies do us only harm. To learn the truth you need to ask God to reveal it to you. Just in your thoughts or out loud say: God I do not know you but want to know the truth about you. If you said this 100 times a day, it would not be too often. Then, listen. Some way the God will put thoughts in your head about God that you will know are true. Thank Him and note how God gave you this truth as that is the well you will be given more truth to drink. Keep praying the original prayer. Let us know how this develops. My prayers are with you.

Hi there 🙂 Well, I personally believe that there is a God for everything on Earth and for matters in the spiritual world, all keeping each other in check, and each following an order. I do not believe one supreme deity, rather that all that exists is ‘God’, and ‘God’ is made up of these separate orders, that govern all the planes of existence, and all of the earth. I’m not sure if I personally worship any certain gods, yet, but I’m still figuring out what I believe in.
This is interesting, Joe. Do you mind me asking a few questions?

You said you don’t believe in a supreme deity, but what dictates the order of the gods? Do you find that what dictates the order of the gods tends to comport with scientific observation/formulas/theories?

What/who created the gods? What do the gods “do” in their respective domains? Are the gods the substances of that domain (like the god of the sea would be all of the water and other particles in the sea) or of events in that domain (like the god of the sea can’t climb up the cliff because the god of earth or gravity stops it)?
Kind of, only thing different is that I believe there is an order of gods for a everything, such as the following: a god of life, a god of death, a god of existence, a god of the future and a god of the past,
Hmm if there’s a god of existence, don’t the other gods subsist under that god? The other gods exist right? The god of existence is close to being in line with Catholic theology (though, we’re obviously monotheistic). We just believe that God is existence.

I do not think that it is Pagan, but I’ve heard some people say that it has ‘Pagan bits and pieces’, so that’s another reason I’m learning about it. I want to know for myself whether their claims are true or not.

Greetings, Joe, great to have you with us. I am also researching Catholicism in great detail, have been for years now and find this forum a fine place to be. If you just want to know more about the Church and it’s history I highly recommend Bishop Robert Barron’s series titled Catholicism. It’s a rather daunting ten episodes but I have found episode 6 to be particularly informative. If nothing else, the music is outstanding. You can find it on You Tube here;

BTW - “Lonely pagan” would be a great name for a band…

Hey Joe (yeah, I know 🙂 ), and welcome. Have you ever looked into the metaphysical arguments for the existence of God (not many gods, but One God, ipsum esse subsistens, Being or Existence itself)? I think they are utterly fascinating and surprising. BTW, the Catholic Church teaches that we can know of the existence of this God (not necessarily the Christian God, but close) by the light of natural reason alone, without divine revelation. That too is very surprising to me.

Hey, Joe! You can try “Dummies Guide to Catholicism”. I’ve heard mixed reviews of it, but it’s a good place to start. I also have a book that is a step-by-step proof of the accuracy of the Bible. It’s not totally Catholic-friendly, which is why I don’t name it now, so LMK when you’re ready for it.

BTW, find a good Catholic Bible to use as a reference. Keep in mind that around two-thirds of the Bible is prophecy and most of the prophesies have been fulfilled. (The rest have yet to be fulfilled.) You will not find any other religious text with that number of prophesies, let alone fulfilled prophesies.

Are you looking for truth or are you looking for a religion that will conform to your current beliefs?

I believe that Catholicism is a mixture of pagans.
