I go to a Church school and let me put in my 2 cents about modesty. I have no problem with it except when it’s used to control. The church and the University I attend use modesty as a way to control its students and it’s members.
I have a tattoo and let me tell you, I had a swim class a few semesters back and I was definitely looked at as a heretic for my tattoo. The church has brainwashed its members into connecting the devil with everything that isn’t “church modest”. I view my body as a temple, just like any other Christian should. Does my tattoo mean i defiled my “temple”? I don’t think so and i’m pretty sure God doesn’t either. The measure of a man’s integrity and “modesty” is on the inside, not the outside. It’s our spiritual body we need to look out for more than our outward appearance. I could be the most perfect looking mormon to walk the face of the earth but if my heart isn’t pure, it’s all for naught. Look on the inside before you look on the outside.
