How many tiny Hatsune Mikus do you need to screw in a lightbulb?

If the equation -x^2 + 2(k+2)x - 9k = 0 has two imaginary roots, what are the values of k ?

(this is fun!)

How far back can you directly trace the lineage of your chosen religion?

I think we scared away the friendly Neo-Pagan Wizard with too much math.
Please come back! I want to know the answers to some of the more serious questions!

Oops- sorry- I’m sure he’ll be back, he’s probably just busy doing some conjuring or something.

Huh?..Why?
anecdotal evidence 😛 All of my pagan friends use apples products… except one, but she’s married to a techie.

(Just in case it’s not clear, that was a joke. My wife uses an iPad. I’m just a Google fanboy :p)

HappyPagan, are you coming back to the thread you started? No point in asking if there is no one to answer.

🍿

So someone commented there are not enough Non-Catholics. So I decided to start this thread after reading it.

Ask me anything!
Can you do any of the following:
  1. Control fire.
  2. Control water.
  3. Control wind.
  4. Control earth.
  5. Summon dragons/angels/devils/zombies/beasts.
Follow up question, if your answer is yes, why have you not won the James Randi prize? Better yet, why haven’t your kind taken over the earth?

Hope you answer soon. It will be referred to on numerous occasions should you do.

Take note: You were invited to ask. Only to ask.

You were never promised an answer.

No one even suggested you might get an answer.

So don’t be disappointed. You got to do what the wizard said you could do: ask.

Those tricksy wizards!

Really though, I was looking forward to a question/answer thread. 😦

Well, you know how people of other faiths sometimes come here to ask questions about catholicism…I guess we’d have to go elsewhere if we had serious questions about paganism. Oh well.

I don’t really understand why so many posts in this thread were intended to poke fun at the OP. Whether we agree with his “religion” or not, that doesn’t relieve us of our duties of being at least charitable.

I agree. As a Catholic I am deeply embarassed at the lack of charity displayed on this thread. In a schoolyard context, about 50% of the posts on this thread would be seen as “bullying” someone who is different. I obviously don’t agree that paganism is the correct spiritual path, but we are hardly going to win anyone over by poking fun at them. “You shall know them by their love…”

It wasn’t meant to poke fun at him, not exactly. It was more a response to his statement of “Ask me anything.” Most of us turned around and still asked serious questions after we were done joking.

I was also disappointed by the fun-poking posts. He was a foreigner surrounded by people of a different faith, we should have been more welcoming. The whole thing was probably a test so he can post our responses on some other site and say “See? Look how tolerant these Christians are.”

I also want to clarify that when I said “tricksy wizards” that was not meant to poke fun at the OP. He identified himself as a wizard. The Tricksy part was just being silly because someone suggested we may have been fooled by a word technicality. Similarly, I would not be offended if I was on a pagan site and fooled someone and they replied with “tricksy Catholics!”

Anyways, lets all be more respectful of newcomers or people who are putting themselves in a vulnerable position for our benefit and curiosity.

I really hope that I did not take part in the offense. I didn’t mean any harm and thought the jokes were rather good natured pokes at the very open ended nature of the invitation. I believe that nobody here meant real harm (not that that is an excuse) and apologize to the OP for any perceived slight or ridicule of his beliefs.
