The teaching isn’t that sacraments get us to heaven, it’s that proper observance of sacraments is a part of living the gospel message and can provide the graces to help our weak selves live in this world full of sin and chaos.
I’m just wondering where this idea came from? Apparently it came from the church. Where did they get this idea from?

I watched a movie about it in spanish class in HS. But how do you handle other religions miracles? Christianity is not the only religion to claim them.
God can perform miracles among anyone he chooses. However, why don’t you give me an example of miracles (verifiable) from other religions and I’ll be happy to comment. I don’t know of any so it’s difficult to answer your question.

Only the Catholic church has ever “verified” it’s own miracles, they are not “verified” by other religions or (obviously) by scientists (outside the Catholic church). And certainly the Catholic church does not verify miracles from other religions. That being said, here are some miracles from other religions that are “verified” by those religions:

Hinduism

Islam

Buddhism

Google is your friend. 😃

The idea of sacraments?

Going with that assumption real quick, sacraments are instituted by Christ to provide grace.

Grace helps us stay strong today and prepares our hearts for when our time is up.

For the sake of discussion, assuming Christ did what was predicted in the OT and then mentioned by him. With many people observing these predictions…

One then concludes the idea came from God.

In order for a miracle to be defined as such, it must be unexplainable by a host of scientists.

“Yet in fact science plays a pivotal role in the elaborate process the Catholic Church employs to investigate miraculous phenomena.”

Yes, google is a good friend.

Science and religion are not in a street fight. Science provides insights into God’s creations.

When worked in harmony, it’s a beautiful thing.

If the scientists work for the church, eg Congregation for the Causes of Saints via a diocesan scientific commission, their opinions are already biased.

You don’t understand.

Just think about the process, or ‘google’.

A kid has cancer, goes into the hospital for surgery, everyone preps for surgery, on the last evaluation before cutting, nothing is found.

That doctor is stunned, everyone is stunned, process starts.

No, that proper observance of sacraments is a part of living the gospel message and can provide grace.
From God - Through the logic I laid out above.

Either Jesus is who he (and before him, prophets) said he is, or he is not.

If he was a lunatic or liar, that resting place for his body would still be guarded today.

Terrible example, medical mistakes happen ALL THE TIME. And doctors invariably say that it’s through no fault of theirs. “Something else” must have happened, because gosh darn it, that tumor was there.

My daughter was told she had 5 cavities between her teeth. I got a second opinion. They took x-rays and found no cavities. Her teeth are perfect to this day. Miracle!!! 👍

I understand the process of determining saints and miracles. All possible miracles are determined by the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, a *Vatican *assembly. They gather information and decide for themselves, then turn it over to the Pope.

Heard this one before, too. Lunatic, liar, Lord…or what about legend? 🤷 Why are there only 3 choices, LOL?

And sacraments came from God. OK, got it. Just like indulgences. God told someone that he’d forgive punishment of sins if people did real specific things. Of course, he only told someone in the church, why bother telling the rest of humanity. 🙂

Mlamg, you have hijacked this thread for your own bully platform.
We are no longer talking about Neo- Paganism or Asatru. It’s rude and unproductive.

The thread began as a teaching tool to inform us about Neo Paganism and as such has done a great service to all who were ignorant. Thank you, OP.

I used to spend hours playing the legend of zelda in the 80’s, eventually, in the game, your character finds Zelda and behold, she was not a legend afterall!

We’re not living in Mr. Roger’s land of make-believe.

Jesus not existing is a stretch the most ardent anti-Christian doesn’t hold.

It’s a historical fact the person was alive and well until a run in with Ceasar.

You should know that all of your questions / concerns can be answered here.

Each little test and questions are good for analysis as long as you are trying to figure out if truth exists and where it is held.

You may conclude it is not with the group that this website promotes.

I hope you are able to eventually find that Love you claim you have as a religion.

Have a great weekend.

Yes this is way off topic and your premise has no support…it’s only your opinion based on “whatever”. 👍

Thanks for your opinion about my example.

I don’t know where you caught that I said it was a miracle.

I did not.

The example was a situation that would lead to an evaluation.

Don’t jump the gun.

Have a good weekend.

Really? All I did was answer questions put by Catholic questioners. I’m not sure how that is hijacking a thread. If it’s off topic, that may be because the questioners were off topic to begin with. It was said earlier in the thread that other pagans could answer questions. No worries, I don’t have anything else to say anyway.

Well, no obviously they aren’t being answered, but evidently I wasn’t allowed to ask my own questions in this thread. I suppose pagans are only allowed to defend ourselves, which is why most of them got fed up and left. As soon as we put our own questions out there, we’re hung for it (or burned at the stake, lol).

Carry on, I also hope that* you* are able to eventually find that Love you claim you have as a religion.
