Actually, logic has nothing to do with forgiveness. If someone does you wrong, logically you would want to get even with them. Forgiveness comes from the heart, and from following Christ and God. If your enemy does you wrong, you must forgive them 7 x 70 times according to Jesus. Logically, I doubt many humans would be able to make sense of that.
I mean if the person wants forgiveness, it’s easier to give it to them then to keep your grudge. If they don’t want it, by all means hate them.

Well, as animals we all have our perspectives. We all have our own views and prejudices. But, as logical creatures, humans usually conclude forgiveness is much more relieving than a grudge.
Fair enough. Sorry if it’s already been asked but what is your actual belief on the nature/reality of God? surely if He isn’t there, then it isn’t a religion? I don’t quite understand non theistic Satanism as a religion, if it is simply a philosophy of human behaviour.

These theological questions hurt my head, so I’m off to bed, goodnight all!

Satan, symbolic of rebelliousness…

therefore I ask, against what or who?

I think God.

🤷

Welcome to the forum.

Dana
In a sense yes. But not in the sense we believe in God. But, in the sense we don’t conform to what we are told he wants us to do (going to church or praying, for example.) We’re rebelling against the idea you need to worship a God or Gods. Any God, Whether it be Yahweh, Zeus, Shiva, you get the idea.

St. Michael, the Archangel, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

Cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Pleased to meet you, hope you get my name. But what’s puzzling you is the nature of my game.

Wake up. You’re playing with hell fire, literally.

I’m outta here.

Selkis, back in post #32, Robert asked these questions:

*My question is, assuming you reject the belief in God, do you believe in any form of afterlife without God, or do you think human existence is purely a materialistic phenomenon that ends at the time a body dies? Just curious.

My other question is; you may have heard recently about an atheist professor who allegedly obtained and desecrated a Eucharistic host on his website. Were his actions a violation of your LeVayan rules?*

I think you’ve already answered the first one, but I’d really like to see your answer to the second one.

If he obtained the host illegally, then yes. Assuming that it’s unlikely a priest would just hand it over, it’s most likely illegal. We don’t tolerate illegality. But, at the same time, consecrated hosts don’t mean anything to us. To us it’s just bread.

Seen it, not impressed.

Hi! I’m new and a LaVeyan Satanist. I’m sure you all have one idea of Satanists or another. I’m afraid I can’t explain the Theistic branches, but I started this thread to answer any questions or misconceptions you might have. This thread is intended to be nothing more than a simple Q&A for people who want to know the truth about what we believe. I’ll gladly answer any questions you might have. But, this is not an argumentive thread. I’m a nice person, but any preaching, proselytizing, bigotry, insulting, and etc. will be ignored. This is a friendly thread and I want to keep it that way.

Ask away!
Selkis
Hello Selkis.

It’s interesting that you found this forum to open a Q&A thread about LaVeyan Satanism.

What always confused me is the presence of inversed Catholic rituals in your faith - you know, black masses and what-not. I’ve never read the Satanic Bible, but I’ve seen an index to it.

So, you were born into this faith through your parents? Have you looked into other faiths?

I deal mostly with theistic Satanists who are pretty sad in my opinion. They picked the wrong side to be on. But you guys I can’t figure out.

You realize that for most Christians your faith is not really different than theistic Satanism, don’t you? We believe any form of Satanism has the same source which is characteristic of rebellion against our God.

You don’t believe in the Devil. But do you believe in demons, angels or ghosts?

Why exactly did you pick this forum?

I have a tendency to do what I can to end stereotypes. I try to tell people what we really are. Like just real quick, we don’t have inversed Catholic rituals, no idea where people get that from. Maybe it’s some Theistic practice, can’t really speak on their behalf though. We generally disaprove of Black Masses, we hold that as a Theistic practice. Most of our rituals are unrelated to Christian rituals. A lot of them don’t actually mention the word Satan, they might use Loki or Fenris. But, no we don’t believe in any kind of immaterial being, deity or otherwise. Some of believe in magic, some don’t. I have looked into other religions, but I really can’t imagine being a different one. One of our dictums is “Satanists are born, not made.” I wouldn’t be very happy as anything else.

Ok, from an anthropological perspective, there are some rough divisions of “satanists”
  1. Organized sects with a more or less developed theology and mission statements. Laveyan “Church of Satan”, Aquino (Michael) “Temple of Set”, etc. Tend to bar minors from joining for obvious reasons. Tend to be law abiding.
  2. Less organized groups, tend to be very small and localized–sometimes are spin offs of #1. These groups may develop some extremes of theology or behavior–often are formed from like minded #3’s.
  3. Do-it-yourselfers, aka “solitarys”. Likeley an impressionable alienated teen already into thrasher style music, groups like Slipknot and such, gets a copy of The Satanist Bible, and goes off from there. The most likely source of murdered pets, sometimes people (David Berkowitz, aka “Son of Sam”)

Yeah, I don’t see anything wrong with that way of putting it.

I will repeat myself. Any blatently disrespectful statements will be ignored. Don’t pretend you know more about my religion than I do. Those who won’t listen to reason or have compassion or understanding (whether they be Satanists, Christians, Jews, etc.) should be shunned by mature soceity.
That’s hilarious. A satanist coming on a Catholic forum and dictating terms. Laughable! Don’t worry…someday when you pass on, you’ll meet your master. good luck with that!

Matt 16:23
But he turned and said unto Peter
get thee behind me Satan
thou art an offence unto me
for thou savourest not the things that be of God
but those that be of men

Selkis too savourest/sets his mind (φρονεῖς) on the things that be of men like Peter ?

If you’re right, your in no less a dangerous position then I am.

“It’s not an immaterial thing, it’s carnal.” Selkis

“It is primarily on the individual” Adstrinity

“and believes that one should pursue whatever pleases them” Wyatt

“Satan is more of a metaphor for **following **all of **the drives **and pleasures **of human **nature” Wyatt

the Satanist savours/sets his mind on anthropic/man things…?

Sure, why not. If you’re trying to ask if we deal with material affairs versus immaterial ones, I’d have to say yes. But, if that’s your question just ask it, bible quotes don’t impress me.

Again yes, we don’t believe in the immaterial.

How’s that? I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, and, God-willing, through faith in Him, reliance upon His sacraments and grace, His strength and my recognition that I am a weak sinner (and boy am I weak sometimes) I hope to find eternal joy with Him.

You have boldly come on a Catholic thread discussing your “satanism.” I fail to see what you mean that I’m in the same dangerous position you are in?

I get angry at folks like you trying to come into a Christian forum and trying to sanitize Satanism and talk about rational, intellectual, polite discussion about a sinister, evil, selfish ‘religion’ like satanism?

I would never presume to go on a satanic website and think that those folks should or would accept my faith in Christ.

You are doing one of two things, and I hope it’s the second one–you are either trying to provoke and anger Catholic folks OR you feel the calling of the Holy Spirit and you are flirting with Catholicism because, deep in the back of your mind, you don’t really believe all this atheistic, selfish LaVey stuff, and you’re curious about our faith.

I hope you fit the second description and Jesus Christ has successfully touched your heart and you are, even if you don’t realize it, coming closer to Him. In that event, I’d be most pleased to call you brother. God Bless and best of luck

Not trying to impress
but the verse has impressed…me…
because Jesus succinctly categorizes Satan/ism simply as that which minds/savors the things of man over that of God. All Christians should understand from Matt 16:23 alone this simple understanding of Satan/ism.
