Okay, so God only works through you if you let him. Do you believe you are sovereign over God?
No. God, in His sovereignty has decreed that mankind choose.
Why does the clay try to question the potter in what He can and cannot do with the clay. We are but dust.
Obedience is not “questioning the potter”. This passage is an expression of rebellion against God. To participate in His plan does not require audacity, as you seem to think. Though we were but dust, He has raised us up with Him, and joined us with Him, seated at the right hand of the Father. We are no longer dust, but the glorious adoption of the Father, made into sons and daughters, beloved of God, the apple of His eye and the cause for rejoicing in heaven.
It seems Roman Catholicism teaches the sovereignity of man as compared to the complete sovereignity of God.
We do not see the sovereignity of God as incompatible with the participation of man. God has ordained that we should be partakers of His divine glory. This is not something that we earn, or do for ourselves. He has transferred us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light, made us into priests, prophets, and kings. this is His doing, not ours. We get to participate.
Sounds semi-pelagism to me, but what do I know? God does whatever pleases Him, regardless of the actions of men. That is why God is the Almighty God; He does not need your permission.
You have been wrongly informed about what the Apostles taught, therefore, what you “know” is deficient. However, I agree that God does whatever pleases HIm. He chooses to pend HImself on the actions of men. This is His perogative. He tolerates disobedience, and it is His good pleasure to give the kingdom to the obedient.
19 You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?” 20 But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” 21 Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? 22 What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 23 in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory— Rom 9
This description is about those who have refused to obey the gospel.
It seems to me that you deny the glorious riches that He has made known to us in the beloved, the immeasurable power that is at work in us who believe. It works because we embrace it. This is how He ordained things.
