Do you have any question about Islam , Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him ) or holy Quran ?

Pl. ask without using any nasty words .

InshaAllah ( God Willing ) , Muslims participants will try to answer 🙂

How can extremists use the Quran to justify violence and hatred? Do they interpret the Quran incorrectly, or do are their interpretations far too literal?

How can you reconcile your Islamic faith with western ideals and democracy?

A few questions:

What was the reason for Jesus being crucified?

I know Islam teaches He was not actually crucified, but what does the Quran say about why He was condemned to crucifixion?

Where is the Quran’s proof of Jesus being the Messiah? (Besides simply saying He is the Messiah.)

Why did The God spend so much time preparing for the Messiah just for Jesus’ time on earth to have been supposedly “misinterpreted” by all of His followers?

Why, if The God would not let one of His prophets suffer such a death as crucifixion, why did every other prophet from the past die?

Why was Jesus so important to be the only one raised to Heaven?

Since Jesus is so important, why are His teachings not more important than Mohammad’s?

Salaam/peace;
…Why, if The God would not let one of His prophets surfer such a death as crucifixion, why did every other prophet from the past die?
few Prophets were murdered by Jews . They also tried to kill Jesus (p) but God saved him at that time . Why ? God knows best .

May be , God wanted to keep Jesus (p) alive so that he can come before the last day to testify that ‘’ there is no god but God and Muhammed (p) is the last Prophet of God.

Jesus (p) will die after his second coming . All Prophets (pbut) including Muhammed (p) died because they were all human beings . Only God is immortal , eternal.
Why was Jesus so important to be the only one raised to Heaven?
most probably , he is not in heaven but somewhere near to it. Does not matter where is he exactly , he is in a safe custody of God .

Jesus (p) is important because he is a blessed Prophet , will kill anti-Christ & establish peace.
Since Jesus is so important, why are His teachings not more important that Mohammad’s?
We respect all the Prophets not only Muhammed (p).

Say: "We believe in Allah,

and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma`il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to [all] prophets from their Lord:

We make no difference between one and another of them: And we submit to Allah [in Islam]".

( Al-Baqarah 2:136)

all the Prophets taught us about worshipping one God . We Muslims obey/ listen to all Prophets & don’t worship anyone besides one God.

1- Extremists do not follow Muslim consensus , they work on teh fringe and they view the world from their eyes only. usually they have not had any education from a respectable islamic institution and just relied on how they understand the texts. I would like to note that Politics and not religion is the reason behind 90% of their actions. however religion becomes the booster to their will to achieve the political goal. Both what you mentioned is correct , sometimes they interpret it incorrectly and sometimes they do by taking it literraly not knowing or ignoring the circumstances behind the verse or action , and ignoring other instances that can show to the opposite of their understanding. usually they are insecure and reactionary.

2- Islam is in reconciliation with western society simply because not all of islam is required to be applied in non muslim land . Fro example it is a duty on any muslim ruler to ban alcohol drinking in Muslim lands, while it is not a duty for muslims to do so in non muslim countries . The duties that Muslims have in western societies are personal duties like charity , prayer , consming proper food , marriage . islam is for free elections and prople choice of rulers. Islam is against imposing islam on others.

hope i clarified.

I guess , they did not read/ understand the verses with its context/ background .

In the war time , it’s allowed to kill armed soldier/ enemy . Innocent civilians must not be killed at any time.

During the war time , if enemy wants peace & wants to hear the words of God , Muslims must ESCORT him in to a safe place.

Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you,
but do not transgress limits;

for Allah does not love transgressors

(Al-Baqarah 2:190).

Goodness and evil can never be equal.

Repel [evil] with good: then will he between whom and you was hatred become as it were your friend and intimate!

(Fussilat 41:34)

"If one amongst the pagans ask thee for asylum,grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah;

and then escort him to where he can be secure that is because they are men without knowledge."

[Al-Qur’an 9:6]
How can you reconcile your Islamic faith with western ideals and democracy?
I don’t live in the west . So , it’s bettter if any other bro/sis answers to this. In short , anything that does not go against Islam, we will learn /accept from the west , anything bad must be avoided.

The importance of Jesus is beacsue he was the last prophet sent to the Jews. He came to change how they think about God and not to abolish the laws that God put. you can say he was a bold reformer of how jews percieved God . He becamea theat to the current establishement at the time and they wanted him dead , just like they killed joshua and zackari and many others.

I have only one question to ask about Islam. Is there a central teaching authority that represents Islam?

No. In Islam the recommended way is the consensus or majority opinion of knowledgable scholars and experts.

If Muhammad was sent to the people of the earth as our example, can we disobey the Quran???

The Quran states we can only have four wives, yet Muhammad had more than four wives, so can we to disobey the Quran like Muhammad did???

According to the Quran, Muhammad is our example, Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the praise of Allah.) (Al-Ahzab 33: 21)

So is disobeying the Quran part of this beautiful pattern???

Also in an authentic hadith it says, It is reported in a Hadith: Sad ibn Hisham said that he asked A’ishah, Prophet’s wife (may Allah be pleased with her) “Tell me about the character of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).” She said, “His character was the Qur’an.” (Musnad Ahmad, Hadith No. 24139)

So this leaves us with several possbilities,
  1. If Muhammad married more than 4 wives, his character was not the Quran.
  2. All the narrations of him having more than 4 wives are incorrect.
  3. The Quran is incorrect when it say we can only have 4 wives.
  4. Muhammad is not really the example, we are suppose to follow what he says not necessarily what he does???
I am sure you can think of other possibilities.

Has this been accomplished by means like a council? Are the recommedations of the meeting held to be final and binding on the members of Islam?

Quran is the main source to know about Islam , then hadith – saying of Prophet Muhammed (p).

There is a verse in Quran that says ask those who know. So , who have studied Quran & Hadith for years , ordinary Muslims like me need to know about their opinion to remove confusion.

Take that example : I was not sure if Muslims can greet non Muslims by saying Salaam. When I heard the lecture of Dr. Zakir Naik , i learnt that yes , it’s allowed.

A little confusing for me.Meedo says No central authority, but that is handled by getting a concensus (I don’t know how that is done or the result is binding then) but now Muslim Woman is using a personal example of a matter she needed clarity on and she relied on the reasoning of only one scholar. Did his view agree with many others? How do you know you are picking a scholar who is right?

Thank you

Dr. Zakir gave example of Prophet Abraham/ Ibrahim (pbuh). He greeted his disbeliever father by saying peace be on you 🙂 & it’s mentioned in Quran. I dont remember now the name of the Sura/ chapter.

It’s late night here . If still it’s confusing , then God Willing , I will try to explain more later .

Please respond to my thread I started here.

Me, me, 🙂

When God says in the OT and NT that his words stand forever, yet Muslims say they are corrupt, do muslims believe it was humans , not God, who created this idea?

If yes:

1- why would God allow humans to say He is serious about His words when He is not? does it fit God anyway not to be serious about his words and hence humanity?

2-how does he expect humans to follow Muhammad if they take it seriously that God’s words stand for ever yet the Quran is contradicting them? after all, God allowed humans to say His words stand of forever.

3- how do you reconcile all this scenario with God’s Holiness, Omnipotence and Justice?

Shukran 🙂

No,

There are some councils but there isnt one big council like the Vatican for example. I think you would say that there are 3 or 4 big councils but still they dont go into very details. They just set general rules. ’

In Islam , the words ‘‘final’’ ‘’ binding’’ are not easy to tred on. Because in islamic law it is acknowledged that circum, stances differ all the time and what might be valid today not necessarily is valid tommorow. Besides Islam’s clergy are not considered on higher spiritual level or somthing , they just know more or have studied more about faith. So for example, thety cant excommunicate or damn or bless people. They just give opinions based on what they see is right .

You know you pick the scholar that is right but checking his evidence . You should make sure that he has evidence to the Quran or the life of the Prophet Muhammed and also common sense.

Forexample if there is a scholar living in India he would tell you that no matter what happens muslims must fast the month of Ramadan from sunrise to sunset. And he would rightfully have evidence from the Quran on that . But any schiolar living in Northern sweden would tell you clearly that this could not happen in the summer there because the sun sometimes never completely sets!!! If one would literally follow the Quran here it would lead to death and islam prohibits harming oneself !!

here is an example of circumstances that would require measurement of case by case issues. and taking in consideration circumstances .
