Sorry for the delay.
Not a problem!
To say that Israel has not been ‘a perfect nation by any stretch of the imagination’ is masterful understatement 😉
I try to be polite! 😂
For sure, Israel has a right to exist. But perhaps it is time to ask ourselves: ‘Do her critics have a case; is their criticism of certain of her behaviours justified? If the answers is ‘yes’, then do these behaviours have a right to exist?
I agree very much with this statement. Growing up, we were always given this idealistic view of Israel. We collected funds to plant trees. We had donation programs to help Israel …that never told us how we were helping. More than anything else, we supported Israel because”Never Again” regarding the holocaust.

Then I left Judaism and started learning quite a bit more about what Israel was actually doing and how she was doing it. Overcoming the brainwashing took me a while. I overcame it!

I do also defend her right to exist but her behaviors have often been atrocious and just mind boggling to me. We survive Hitler and do this? I think Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians have often been shameful. The Palestinians are a big problem. Israel is constantly having to defend herself and her borders but, Jews are supposed to be better than this! When did we become the bullies…when I looked into this, it appears to have been from the start. It needs to change. Israel can not stand without allies.

I also am disgusted with the Muslim actions. They, too, are supposed to be better than this! Israel is there. It’s been there for a long enough time that they need to be recognized as having the right to exist. The Palestinian problem is a Muslim problem, too. They all need to get over themselves and the posturing and sit down and negotiate the problem with no side either winning or losing…just settling. Then figure out how to leave each other alone and live side by side.

The fanatics from both sides is getting weary. The UAE negotiates a treaty with Israel and is condemned by the Muslim communities instead of considering it a blueprint for themselves. Everyone seems to want the troubles and hatred to continue…for political and monetary reasons. They are all deserving of the conflicts they continue to have. I washed my hands of Israeli support years ago. I still want them to survive, to exist but they need to waken up and realize they need to make concessions with their Palestinians and neighbors. They will lose allies if they don’t and deserve to lose them as well.

I also have a problem with our president as I don’t think he will necessarily help the needed process, either. I certainly hope he doesn’t make things worse.

Indeed. I was listening to the BBC on my way to work, when this very matter was raised. I despair sometimes, I really do.
