Assault weapons are weapons of war

Some parts are always illegal and some are not. ie. C-4 and dynamite are very controlled substances.

Even in Britain you can buy all needed parts to make a bomb, just choose the legal but less powerful ingredients.

Controlled substances. Good. Dynamite was one of the substances used in 1927, I think. Very sensible of the US. Dangerous stuff should be controlled. Poisons, too? Are there controls there?

This argument is pointless. There are too many weapons in circulation for any ban to be effective. Also, as the prohibition on alcohol and the war on drugs has shown, laws are ineffective to eliminate any item to which there is a demand. Firearms a no different than a hammer. They are an inanimate object controlled by a person. It is the person wielding said item that determines the use of said item. To attempt to confer evil to an inanimate object is ridiculous. As has been said in the past, “We have a sin problem, not a weapon problem.”

Yup, every corner shop has a section on poisons,
along with a how to guide for using your arsenic.

Did you know too much water will kill you?

That’s what I say against the laws controlling the ownership, insurance, registration, upkeep and use of motor cars. It’s a sin problem, not a car problem.

Yes, but, you see, that’s why I think the pressure against firearm legislation is not really about how citizens need to protect themselves when the Government comes for them: explosives would be very handy against those tanks and aircraft, flick knives would be really useful for that guerrilla campaign, so would poison. It’s about some dream of the real American on the frontier, the real man who knows an automatic from a semi-automatic and can hit any number of tin cans in his back yard, Shane v the Ryker gang. The weird argument that keeping me safe from being attacked with a gun is in some way an unforgivable diminution my freedom.

I have said more than enough.

I find your visions of how the govt will come for your guns an odd fantasy, it won’t be with tanks and jet fighters, not even an old A-10 Warthog will be used.

Explosives are indiscriminate, not targeted.

Maybe you should visit the ‘West’ and see what it’s like first hand. Shane is a very old movie.

If you are not in the US, why are you so attached to our issues?

You can take my guns off of my cold dead body, OK?

Ridiculous… they want to make it so the people have no under the table power. Why do you think they’re making ammunition more expensive and going after, specifically, the “assault weapon,” the AR-15?

It’s simple. They don’t want to have to deal with the potential threat of a Revolution 2.0. Simple. Main reason for this legislation.
