It was the pastor’s wife who preached a sermon on “laughter” The sermon was ok but then she closed by bringing out all these “props” She called one guy up to the front and pulled out a couple pair of boxing gloves and she and this guy had a slapstick “boxing match.” Then she called another fellow up had him sit down in a chair take off his shoes and she knelt down in front of him and tickled his feet. After that she had a group of people come up and she handed each person a seltzer bottle and told them to chase each other around the sanctuary (which was actually a school gym with chairs in it) and squirt each other. This was all intended to make the people laugh, but as I said in my previous post it fell on some of the congregation like a lead balloon.I wish I were kidding. This was not children’s church. This was adult church!
The name of the church was Family Christian Fellowship. It was in Rockford, Illinois from about 1976 to just a few years ago. The Pastor and his wife graduated from Kenneth Hagin’s Rhema Bible School in Broken Arrow, OK. They did a whole bunch of daffy stuff during their “services” When I objected they said I had a “demon of intelligence” and proceded to cast it out of me! If there really were such a thing I wish they would have cast it INTO me! Finally a bunch of people called a congregational meeting to object to this nonsense they were doing and they finally did clean up their act a bit.[/Q What did the preacher say he was doing this for what and why “the minister would kneel down in front of them and tickle their feet until they’d laugh.” This is a good side show
