I think and have thought since this started that it is a very very dangerous direction they are heading in. I think there are 450 members out of about 4500 priests in Ireland, so I hope their influence will be limited. I know their agenda is for reform in the Church - obviously they have a very limited understanding of Magisterial teaching, since they hope to get some sort of dialogue going on reform in the areas of morality, etc…? What are they thinking? The Truth cannot be diluted or tampered with, yet they feel it can, and not only that are sending out a very bad message to lay Catholics, whose catechesis may be limited - especially with their vocal opposition to the new Missal. Also, the idea of obedience to the Bishops as being part of priesthood seems to have totally bypassed them. God help us, let’s pray for them I say.
 
Not too keen on:

*A re-evaluation of Catholic sexual teaching and practice that recognizes the profound mystery of human sexuality and the experience and wisdom of God’s people.
*

or:

A redesigning of Ministry in the Church, in order to incorporate the gifts, wisdom and expertise of the entire faith community, male and female.

Sounds very much like they plan to create a homosexual friendly ‘‘church’’ with priestesses advocating condom use.

But, the Church has fallen on hard times in Ireland. I’m surprised this took so long.
 
Meh they should just become Anglicans or Pagans. Seriously I don’t get why people try to change the Catholic religion (or any faith for that matter) when there is a perfectly good faith that agrees with them elsewhere…
 
What the ****? Ireland’s clergy has far, far more pressing problems than this hippie bull.

The Church’s credibility will be damaged completely if the Irish people see that the clergy’s response is to focus on the issues of 1965, rather than the tragedy of 2011.
 
I am troubled by the intended focus on the “primacy of individual conscience”.

That conscience must be properly formed and when it goes against Church Teaching it does not have the primacy.

Church Teaching is always first, if your conscience goes against it then your conscience is wrong and not properly formed.

I would much rather see a focus on helping the laity form a proper conscience in accordance with Church Teaching.

From my scan it seems they are into moral relativism a but too much.
