At what age to start praying the rosary?

At what age is it right to start praying the rosary? šŸ¤· Thanks.

Iā€™ve said it with my two and a half and five year olds. I have to modify it a bit - 3 Aves a decade instead of 10 - and the two and a half year old mostly holds his beads and crosses himself, but they are at least getting exposed to it!
 
My (then) wife and I started praying it aloud in the car when the kids were very small. They started joining in and still like it although theyā€™re now in their teens and 20ā€™s.

Just donā€™t make the kids pray the rosary.
 
as soon as they know the basic prayers - Our Father and Hail Mary. They donā€™t necessarily need to know the Apostles Creed and the extra prayers you may say at the end (Saint Michael, the Fatima Decade prayer, Memorare). Start with the basicsā€¦they could eventually pick up the other prayers. A finger rosary for saying one decade would be a good way to start.
 
My kids are 11,9,6,4 and 2. We have prayed the rosary as a family for many years. Sometimes the kids participate vocally, sometimes they donā€™t. My 11 year old usually announces the mysteries and prays aloud. My 9 year old assures us sheā€™s praying in her heart, though Iā€™m sure her mind wanders (a lot). I donā€™t worry about it. My 6 year old likes to announce the Last Supper with great enthusiasm. He sometimes leads a decade, as does his younger sister. The two year old wanders around and tries to take rosaries from the rest of us. We have a box of broken rosaries. šŸ™‚ Weā€™ve never forced them to pray it, and sometimes it does seem like my husband and I are just praying in the presence of the children, but thatā€™s ok.
 
The younger the better.

I started my children on the Rosary when they were around 4 or 5 years old.

We first just said a decade, and within 2 or 3 weeks we were saying all 5 decades.

Make it a part of your night time routine (e.g. bath, rosary, and bed-time).
 
I started to say the Rosary every day several years ago after my husband passed away. I say the first two decades with my first cup of coffee ā€“ the third decade I usually say when Iā€™m walking to Mass or up the street to public transportation ā€“ the 4th decade I remember my two best friends who are living in assisted living homes and the last decade I say before I turn out the light at night. I can truthfully say itā€™s one of the things that keeps me going.
 
This thread just makes me happy. Itā€™s neat reading all of the stories of how everyone gets their family involved in the rosary.

Why? My husband used to pray the rosary in while lying in bed with my oldest children when they were a toddler and a baby. While they didnā€™t understand (at the time), they have fond memories of this time. It was soothing and they were able to appreciate the meditative and rhythmic aspects of the prayer. Kind of like taking little ones to church; they become accustomed to the sights and sounds of prayer and worship from a young age.
 
Any age. However, it took me until 16 years old to find the meaning and truth behind it. The Rosary is a beautiful devotion.

The sooner the better. šŸ™‚ My kids are 11, 8, 7, 4, 2, and 2 months, and we try to pray a family Rosary at least 3-4 times a week (on my days when Iā€™m not working). My 11, 8, and 7 year old all lead decades, and my 4 year old leads one Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be at the end for the intentions of the Holy Father.

Itā€™s a great family activity that brings so many blessings and graces to us. An added bonus is that it helps get them settled down before bedtime.

We also like to pray the family Rosary whenever weā€™re in the van for long drives. Again, the bonus of having 6 kids settled down in a vehicle for an extended period of time is priceless.

Rosary was always said after dinner. I never had to really learn it as my sisters and I heard it from the time we were babies. We took turns leading it. I had the Sorrowful, and my other sister Joyful and my next sister Glorius.
Of corse we really hurried up if we had a date that night.šŸ˜ƒ
 
I have found that children who can read aloud can take pride in being able to read the Bible verses in The Seven Day Bible Rosary which contains approximately 350 different verses during the week (seven sets x five mysteries x ten verses). One of my hopes in compiling it was that the Lordā€™s words about the indissolubility of marriage and the need for evangelists would help to nurture the faith of young and old.
