Again, it’s the reason you do something. I never said cremation was intrinsically wrong. I never said a cremated body can’t be resurrected. It comes to the reason why.

To have an analogy, it’s not intrinsically wrong to wear a crucifix. In fact there are many good reasons to wear a crucifix. But if you wear a crucifix upside down to ‘stick it’ to God, that’s wrong.
And to bring that back to cremation, there are good reasons to consider cremation. Available space, cost, valid reasons. But if the reason you choose cremation is to ‘stick it’ to God, that’s wrong.

My very devout Catholic father was cremated. He didn’t want to spend a lot of money. He is interred at the Catholic cemetery where there is a space for people who wanted cremation. No disrespect intended at all. I hope to see him and my mother in heaven.

If it was part of their wishes to go through the catholic church for a funeral then go ask the church to see what their rules are for culturally practicing catholics that are not superstitious. However, if they were not active members of the catholic church it would be distasteful to go through a church service for someone not of that religious practice, just as distasteful it would be for a catholic to go through a secular funeral.
