Sir,

If you do not have faith, that is OK. Faith is a gift from God. Try to work on Hope and Chairity and Faith will soon follow. The three go together.

Is the idea that God wants a personal relationship with all of us just a Protestant thing? Or is it consistent with Catholicism as well?
The idea of a “relationship with God” was definitely not invented by Protestants…but you will never hear a Catholic talk about that relationship in the same way. Catholics and Protestants have a completely different vocabulary with regard to certain matters of faith.

God Bless.

PaulAckermann:
An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet; for just as JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE BELLY OF THE SEA MONSTER, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
-Matthew 12:38-40
I know this is not the main point of your post but I’m just curious - did this prophecy of Jesus ever come true? Is there anything in the Bible that shows that the Son of Man spent three nights in the “heart of the earth”?

PaulAckermann:
God has already given signs of His existence.

Look around you. Look at all creation. There is intricate design within all creation which shows His existence.
You see design. I see random mutation and natural selection.

But even if I was convinced that an “intelligent designer” existed that still wouldn’t tell me what he/she/it wanted me to do with my life. Or even if the designer cared what I did with it.

If that is not enough, look at all the Old Testament prophesies fullfilled in Jesus.
Written decades after the actual events, using unnamed sources, how easy it would have been for rumors, legends and speculation to be reported as fact in the pages of the Gospels. Therefore, I think it’s prudent to view the New Testament with much skepticism.

If that is not enough, look at the Resurrection of Jesus. Eyewitnesses who testified of seeing Christ after His death were totured and killed. If this was a hoax, why would they die for something they knew was not true?
How do we know that they did die in this manner? Similar to my answer above, I don’t think you have any reliable records you can reference to verify this claim.

Random mutation and natural selection, hmmmmm…:hmmm:

How do you know that this was not God’s way of creating?

We have evidence of dinosaurs, but what existed before that?

Big Bang theory? If so, maybe this was God’s way of creating.

Big Bang theory? Ok. What existed before that? Where did the matter come from that went bang?😃

We have evidence of miracles as well. How do you explain the incorruptibles?

The living flesh in the monstrance?

Think they’re hoaxes? Have you researched that or have you taken someone’s word for it because it fits in with your un-beliefs?

To what end would someone fabricate the NT? What personal gain?

Just curious.
