Re: Atheists More Irrational than Religious in U.S.A.

do you know how truly scientifically absurd upholding the myth of miraculous incorruptibility is? Under certain conditions bodies can avoid decomposition. However, it’s also true that some of the bodies the CC claims are incorruptible are partially wax at this point.

There is no Catholic allegation of a miracle that can withstand real scrutiny; and the concept of incorruptibility is truly one of the most (perhaps the most) **macabre religious practices **I know of.

Response Humble Maid:
Yankee, either you have been taking to lying or maybe you have a short term memory; check out what you said in post #297 and compare it to #299. Maybe we should call you Tin Man…get a heart and a brain just follow the yellow brick road.

P.S. I don’t usually answer back but I don’t like it when you insult my sister in Christ. She is a devout person with a great perception both in the academia and spiritual world.

guess I did say practice (oh no, not the sisterhood … instead of the black panthers it’s the pink panthers ). I’m still infallible though (I’m only infallible in matters of reason and logic, in other areas, such as talking about the absolutely ludicrous, I concede my fallibility).

So if other faiths have similar folks with legitimate simliar miraculous experiences, then that only makes my case even stronger, that God exists.
Or maybe a race of leprechauns lives under the earth and makes all of these miracles happen because these creatures get a giggle out of fooling humans into thinking that “gods” are real. If that’s the case, then every miracle that’s ever been claimed makes the leprechaun argument stronger.

I mean, seriously. If you’re just going to ignore all the wild differences between religions and make up a story that explains everything, then you have just as much evidence as someone who believes it’s all leprechauns.

She’s my sister (literally) Yankee. God bless.

I accept your humble:rolleyes: apology. I guess this is as good as it gets.

Well since Josie has made it known that we are sisters you can probably understand my defensive attitude when it comes to these issues. I care for her very much. I was wrong about the ‘brain thing’ though you should consider the heart. God Bless oops, I mean peace be with you.

Well, you can always ask your siblings to join CAF, if you think it’s not fair (it’ll be like a family feud). 😃
They’re neither religious or decidedly irreligious (in other words – they don’t care either way) … so they wouldn’t get involved in this sort of thing. I could, however, get a bunch of really smart and hardcore atheists on CAF in a heartbeat (but no worries … I wouldn’t do that).

I’m a shaken in my boots, Yankee, so don’t you go bringin no atheist brigade, purty please. 😃

By the way, I thought you said that your family was atheist/agnostic, so are your sibling theists or not?

Heh, this would make for a good book!!!

Same about your religion.
Hinduism is much much older than the “beginning”. Far more and better miracles are documented.
Each and every of our sages have attested to the godhood of Krishna. Find a contradiction.
And how many gods do you have ? Is it one or hundreds ?
ONE Absolute without a Second to compare with. Immanent Trinity.

I hope you know what an Absolute is. It is qualityless, hence incomparable.
I don’t know much about your god or gods so I’m not going to say anything about it one way or another. Being old does not make it right.
Maybe. But heard claims of antiquity about xianity and Judaism.
I know a lot about my own so, what I will say is “what has God done for you (as n the religion as a whole) lately”. The God, we are familiar with is the same as that of the Hebrews, and Jesus along with His followers have produced hundreds of saints and miracle worker through out the centuries since. Every century including the last has witnessed saints who have performed many miraculous deeds.
I know a lot about your religion, more than you tghink. Saints ARE created by the church, in Hinduism a saint is acknowledged by the people. Then, I don’t have good opinion about some of your “saints” [Aquinas who justified inquisition and slavery etc, Xevier who brought inquisition to India and caused killings, burnings, torture and slavery of thousands of Hindus, who had never harmed a xian. We have had xians for 1900 years, far longer than your country, whichever it is. ].
Our last great miracle worker was St Padre Pio, died in the 1960s (and some claim Pope John Paul II is also credited with number of miracles). These were holy and upright men, no charalatans or folks with questionable morals or reputations.
Miracles are common place. Don’t astound or awe us.
You don’t know the experiences Ive had and I don’t know what you’ve had. It’s doesn’t matter.

and to this day his Body is still in perfect condition after almost 50 years.
What is miraculous about it?
Now tell me, do you have a hindu saint or two whose body has been preserved throughout the ages ?
We cremate and immerse the ashes in rivers. We do not preserve dead bodies. Period.
I don’t know God’s plan for everyone else, so maybe He has revealed himself in other ways to other folks around the world.
You should not doubt. God’s plan is simple: Preservation of moral order, with mid course correction applied Him.

Om! That is Infinite, and this (universe) is infinite.
This infinite proceeds from That Infinite.
(Then) taking the infinitude of the infinite (universe),
It remains as the Infinite (Brahman) alone.
Om! Let there be Peace in me!
Let there be Peace in my environment!

atheists (basically), but but they’re not interested in this topic as I am.
So why didn’t you just say that originally, and what do you mean by “basically”? And why aren’t your siblings interested in this topic, don’t they care about how religion is “ruining” the world?

my family is none of your darn business …

You spoke for me too.

For a fundie:
God=biblegod
Religion=their religion ONLY

They claim copy righted monopolies on god and religion.

Hmm. Hinduism is not a RELIGION, it is DHARMA. Much above their fundie “religion”.

Is christianity even it’s own religion? It seems like all of the philosophies from it come from older religions.

It has no philosophy of its own. First Plato was borrowed then Aristotle was tried.

How could he have spoken for you too when the question was never even directed at you? And truth in its essence is true because there can only be one truth (any variation of the truth, is just that a variation of the truth), so yes it’s a monopoly, for example, God either exists or He doesn’t exist, either Jesus is who He says He is or He isn’t, therefore, either Christianity is true or it isn’t . . . etc.

p.s. What do you think of the caste system inherent in Hinduism, and what is India doing about the tens of millions of “untouchables” who are poor and discriminated against?
