Atheists want iconic 17-foot cross removed from 9/11 museum

As mentioned before, this pre-fabricated t-beam was modified several times. What is displayed in the museum is not the same object that was protruding out of rubble. What it is today is a man-made cross.

Why don’t we ever see them protesting the pagan religion symbols in government? Why is the God of the Christians and the Jews the only one they protest? How does it make sense to be against one God but not be against many?

This is good. What religious people need to do instead is shun all these secular memorials. And when someone says, “you’re in our thoughts”, tell them you don’t need anyone to fantasize about you. Being in one’s thoughts and wishes means nothing.

This is a museum, since when is religious art and artifacts not allowed in museums, even publicly funded ones? Last time I checked the Art Institute of Chicago and the Minneapolis Institute of Art (both publicly funded museums) contained religious art and artifacts. I don’t see the atheists suing them.

And grill cheese sandwiches can sometimes have what appears to be an image of Jesus or Mary , that’s not my point, i.e., the beams were distinctively/tangibly in the shape of a cross, and it was found in an upright position!

Maybe not. It isn’t even really the same object that was extracted out of the rubble. It has been modified to make it look like a cross over the years. A Jewish group also protested its inclusion absent of any other recognition of the varying religions or lack thereof of the people who died and the memorial board agreed to instal a Star of David.

How was it modified? What did the original look like?
