Atlanta Police Walk Out

I think one of the underlying issues here is that there is a lack of respect for authority and/or even adults in general with some of the children I’ve worked with.

Some have a mistrust of adults, so in my capacity as a child care worker I try to gain their trust. It’s harder with some kids who could flipping care about the rules or respecting their peers/elders though.

But it definitely starts in the home, unfortunately not every child has the benefit of a stable foundation, where a child is neither neglected or overly-indulged by parents.

Those three had to stay silent, as they were complicit and facing charges.
They didn’t have to stay silent when they were standing there watching their “brother” cop continue to kneel on guy who was proned out and in handcuffs for over 8 minutes.

Even if this didn’t result in death/serious bodily injury, it’s wrong to kneel on a proned out/handcuffed person like that. These 3 other cops stood there and allowed it. There’s your thin blue line.
However, police across the country have condemned those officers. There was no attempt to protect them because they were police.
Because it was caught on video, and is utterly indefensible.
Here, our code is we protect others by never putting them in a situation to lie or cover for you. The one that commits a crime is not protected. The one that makes a mistake must answer for it without expectation of anyone lying or covering up that mistake.
That’s good. But it’s not the case everywhere.

Here’s a good example. Cops chase a POSSIBLE traffic violation into someone’s back yard, enter the back yard with guns drawn, and shoot/kill the driver.

One cop said he saw both hands, no gun.

Shooter cop says he saw gun in perps left hand. Tactical units arrive later and find a gun near the perps left hand.

Problem is the perp had a long-standing disability to left hand leaving it nearly useless.

Where did the gun come from? There’s your thin blue line.

Other news reports show the DA requested the PD to charge the shooter cop, but the PD declined. There’s your thin blue line.

DA took it to a grand jury who just secured indictment.
