I clearly wrote in my reply we don’t give consequences when a child is angry, so whether the punctuation was off, it should not have made you read what wasn’t there, i.e., that we do.
I’m saying they became angered by the consequence, the consequence was not given when they were angry.
How did you get from this that we do give consequences when a child is angry??

Quite a lot of generalizations in your statements.

But hey, you do you.

You don’t give the consequence when they are angry. You get things settled down first and then discuss it. Where in the world do you teach? It sounds like amateur hour.
How is it that you understood it that way when this was your reply to me??

Clearly you mistook me to be saying that I did give consequences when a child was angry, otherwise your reply would make very little sense.

Honestly, I’m not surprised. I think a lot of officers are reconsidering their location and career.
It is kinda neat though. Police defenders are saying “its just a few bad apples,” but these brave folks are coming forward and saying “nope, it is all of us.”

Gangsta rappers boast about their glocks and nines, pointing them in the camera, which MTV futilely attempted to censor. Film stars boldly gun down the bad guys while never being hit themselves.

We clearly have a firearms problem, and it is not among those who train and drill on the firing ranges.

I was speaking to a police officer in our small town. He told me that, even here, we have a shortage of officers. Asheville’s shortage is significant.

I suspect it is nationwide.
Destroying important institutions based on the heinous acts of a few is counterproductive
Most assuredly any shortages of police are a budgetary matter rather than the result of a lack of applicants, especially when the job often just requires a high school diploma.

But sometimes the work environment changes. Like any other job, if the requirements change then the employee must adapt or move on to somewhere else.

Again, literally just like any other job.

Wrong. Power and dominion are taken by the will. This has been your Manowar reference.
You praying for the ensuing chaos that will result as a result?
Why would there be chaos? The protests have been mostly peaceful, and the black community is reacting to the systemic racism in policing which is the cause of their problems. Surely removing that sore point would be a good thing?

That’s not what I’ve been told. Admittedly it is anecdotal to the area I live in, but people are not signing up. They aren’t getting recruits to fill existing positions.

The protests have been mostly peaceful…
Whatever they have “mostly” been, there have been way too many violent ones.

The black community is reacting to the perception of systemic racism in policing. The data show that perception to be inaccurate.
Surely removing that sore point would be a good thing?
It would be helpful if people didn’t reinforce a false narrative.

No, actually it doesn’t. And what makes you think we were not being calm? And being “nice” doesn’t always work, i.e., they take advantage of nice.

The problem is that many of these kids think that saying sorry is a sufficient enough response for repeat offences, so when a consequence other than apologizing is implemented, they attack.
There is a term for these type of kids.

Feral.

It seems like they have not been taught the basics of being a decent member of society. These are the kids that could end up in prison.

What are their parents teaching them?

Ever seen the film Angels with Dirty Faces? It’s depressing but it’s a good portrait of how kids can be virtually doomed to that fate.

I just wonder how culpable someone is when they haven’t been properly taught as a child the concept of right and wrong.

That I can’t speak to. Only God can. Hopefully someday our justice system will more accurately address such issues but I don’t have hope for that. Paaolini said it was wrong to have hope and that hope was an invention of political parties to control people. While I wouldn’t go that far I would say there’s some truth to it.

Hope is one of the three supernatural virtues, the other two is faith and love.

It’s not a political invention.

Yes, and I disagree with him as far as that goes but when it comes to politics I can see his point.

That narrative is part of the Dem strategy for the 2020 election. Encourage tribalism, create chaos, accuse all political opponents of racism.

But it’s also part of the anarchist/Marxist strategy. The Dems think they can control it for the election, and maybe they can do that and quell it if Biden wins. But they might not, and Biden winning might just ensure that they can’t.

Huh.

Were I live when the local PD actually advertises open spots the applications are in the hundred per spot - even knowing the starting pay doesn’t crack 30 grand.
