I agree with your post. I enjoyed the movies and the book too until the rambling preaching. She did hit the nail in the head in some areas where inept government bureaucrats are seeking ever increasing controls over our lives and businesses. Somewhere there should be a middle way. Every time I vote I have to hold my nose. Maybe there should be a Catholic Party in our politics.Ayn’s idea is that society became so corrupt that John Galt felt a moral call to remove his intelligence and his inventions far from that corruption. He set up his Galt’s Gulch to hide from the corruption and invited others to do the same. They were free from Government sanction, taxation, etc… and hence flourished.
Ayn’s philosophy is labeled Objectivism. It’s interesting, and I agree with some of it, but she mocks the idea of God, altruism, etc… She misses the fact that her philosophy could only work if there is a God who provides true moral framework.
