No one is worthy except through Jesus Christ…
Amen! Christ is King; and we are all as ants to a bull by comparison. Any and everything that we achieve and are is by His Grace.
We have a different point of view and I came here to discuss in brotherly love.
Then do so and not dismiss our dogmas and theology as man-made “tradition”. We get them from the Bible. Browse the Apologetics Forum and see for yourself, sir. You don’t see us dismissing Methodism as a concoction of John Wesley; do you? You say you want to discuss in brotherly love? Then do it. I have two brothers myself and neither one of them talk to me the way you have spoken to us.
I believe that Catholics love Jesus Christ. I think you are all faithful to God and are all fruitful in His works.
Thanks for giving us that much credit.
We have a different approach and I am blunt at times, I am here to learn a little and to teach a little.
We certainly do have a different approach, don’t we? I can be blunt myself, so I get it. Most Protestant Forums don’t usually allow Catholic members; and when they do, the Catholics are given a pretty bad time. As someone who has experienced this first-hand, you’ll have to forgive me for being guarded when someone shows up here belittling our Faith and our Church.
Also, what do you expect to teach us, Mr. Methodist Minister? I am VERY curious about that.
I would not enter an orthodox area and speak my mind for I respect the sanctity of what you believe. This area appears to be more of an open market place and I feel that a difference in opinion should promote growth in your personal faith journeys by giving you an opportunity to see how other Christian faiths worship and relate to our Lord.
If I am mistaken and this is not such a place, let me know… I will apologize for entering your hallowed halls and depart.
The only mistake you have made is to think that the rules of charitibility and respect don’t apply here as opposed to the rest of the Forum.
Yes, we discuss others faiths here. But whether they be Jews, Orthodox, Protestant, or anything else; we MUST respect them and their beliefs. If we do not, we get suspended or banned. Even if we’re Catholic.
We don’t get many Methodists here, so to me you’re kind of a curiosity. I live in an area that is overwhelmingly Catholic. Most of my interaction with our separated Protestant brethren actually happens here at CAF or other corners of the internet.
I have an idea for you… instead of telling US about Catholicism and what you think of it; why not tell us about Methodism? Let US tell YOU about Catholicism. That would be a great way to get off on the right foot with most of us, I think.
I am sorry you are confusing the difference between personal opinion and insult.
You have gotten the point across of what your opinion of Catholic theology is. There are MANY Protestant regulars here who are VERY respected, have made their opinions known, and are dear “friends” to many of us here.
They are true to their Reformed theology, we agree to disagree, but there’s always respect.
Since I also belong to Christ’s Church and this church cannot be claimed by either Protestant or Catholic, I know that I have made no such insult by raising points that can make others think about their own faith journey…
Are you trying to lead Catholics away from the Church? (I think this is a valid question that deserves an answer, sir.)
When I arrived at this forum, I looked for places marked as apparently unorthodox (open-discussion). A forum heading marked “Non-Catholic Religions” is misleading.
As I said before… we do discuss non-Catholic religions here. With respect towards their practices and dogmas. Even if we STRENUOUSLY disagree with them.
I am sorry if I hurt anyone’s feelings.
Thanks.
