I don’t know, all those locusts and wild honey-John probably got a little crazy at times.

Imagine if he’d been there for the John 6 discourse-he might have lost his head and…oh wait…

never mind :o
LOL

Tell him hello for me, then, when you see him.

GKC
I give Oatmeal to him.
Really GOOD oatmeal.
Now I have none.

Yes, I’ll tell him you sent “hello” to him.
When I see him.
If I see him.
(The oatmeal is all gone.)

Thank you-it’s rare around here that I get someone with the scriptural knowledge to understand a series of biblical allusions like that AND who has the sense of humour to laugh at it. 🙂
You said humour. HELLO, we have a British spy… has anyone here noticed this?

It made me smile a little.
Really, poor John the B.

To be clear, when I said “here” I meant my geographical locale (for which Triune is off by an ocean), not CAF-there are several here that would get the references. 🙂

Only an ocean? Then indeed, my mapping skills have improved!

Re doughnut’s posts: I thought the essence of her warning is that it not ever
recommended that Catholics go to “denominational” groups to learn more
from a Catholic standpoint. If that’s what doughtnut meant - then I fully agree.

PS - despite self-justification of “otherness,” Anglicans are indeeed Protestants.
catharina, i intend just that - thank God my post was understood. 🙂 I have a feeling half the time what I set out to write will often be read in the wrong light by others, but I’m prepared for that in a way since it happened often enough (either im not putting enough effort to clarify myself, or im seriously on a different frequency from most people around)

i like to read up or learn about other faith so if its a pure interest, certainly its not wrong to do so. but the danger is when some people (i met such people); took the non-catholic teachings, and suddenly come back to bash their own church up because they believe what some of the inaccurate opinions of catholicism was from other denominations. that can be scary @.@

as for anglicans, i thought they qualify most for the term protestants. they were very similar to catholicism in many ways, except for the things they dont agree with. (that sounds like direct displayal of protest) other denominations simply branch off with their own views.

I am attending an Anglican bible study on Romans.
If you have already done Biblical studies in a Catholic context and are secure in your Faith I suppose this might be OK. You could possibly discuss and dialog if that is permitted, exchanging views, and everyone learns something. But it seems from the very first they are shutting down your perspective and stage managing the discussion, it is (after all) their nickel.

If it is your first Bible study experience then I think that it is a mistake to be there.

If you are really forceful and defend your perspective despite the ‘instruction’ you receive from the study leader, you will not have to quit, they quite possibly will throw you out of class (unless you make a good foil for their arguments).

I’m considering attending an Anglican bible study myself… but as I’m Protestant, I guess that might move me closer to Catholicism? 😃

(J/K - Even though my church membership is AG, I’ve always considered myself 1/3 to 1/2 Anglican, due to the strong influence on my faith of C.S. Lewis and N.T. Wright.)

A single Baptist with a single malt liquor is not so odd.

A Baptist with one, in the presence of another Baptist, is odd.

GKC
Do you know why you should always take two Baptists fishing with you?

Because if you take just one, he’ll drink all your beer!!
