I never said the Catholics have no Hope, I said the Roman Catholic Church can’t save you, only Christ can. In Christ we all have hope. When the Rich man left and the Disciples said who can be saved? Jesus said with man this is impossible! We are the Church “man” and it is impossible for us to be saved by a man. Then Jesus said with God all things are possible.
Now what give me authorithy? Thats my point we don’t Lord over each other with authority! Ok so don’t take me wrong I know you’ll say Peter was given the Keys. Yes and so was all who God places in Charge, but not to Lord over, but to LEAD as an Example. So the final authority is the Word of God.
I asked once and will try again. Who said the Catholic Church saves without Christ? You are the only one making the insinuation.
Christ ordained the Apostles and the Apostles ordained with the imposition of hands. That’s how Apostolic succession works. One doesn’t just decide they have authority and start a new Church, to make improvements in what Christ built through the Apostles.
If the final authority is the word of God, yes we’re back to sola scriptura, please show us the scriptures that say that, or it’s a man made tradition.
Why does the inspired word of God say the Church of the living God is the pillar and ground of truth, instead of scriptures?
Why does the inspired word of God say that the manifold wisdom of God may be made known through the Church, instead of scriptures?
Why does the inspired word of God say for offenses to be taken to the Church, instead of scriptures?
Why do scriptures tell us that people can wrest scriptures, even to their own destruction, if scriptures are the sole authority?
**1Ti 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
Eph 3:10 That the manifold wisdom of God may be made known to the principalities and powers in heavenly places through the church
Mat 18:17 And if he will not hear them: tell the church. And if he will not hear the church, let him be to thee as the heathen and publican.
2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.**
Why did the people of the Old Testament need an authority to explain scriptures to them if it was meant for all to interpret them for themselves?
**Nehemiah 8
1And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
2And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.
3And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.
4And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
5And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
6And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
7Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.
8So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading**.
Why did the Ethiopian eunuch need someone to preach to him to understand what he was reading in scriptures, if the scriptures was the sole authority?
As I’ve asked several times, please provide the scriptures that say that scriptures are the sole authority. Also, take time to address the scriptures and examples I have provided.
