I am somewhat disheartened as I approach yet another group of marriage prep couples… They wouldn’t be there except that Father says they have to, in order to get married in the Church. And yes, the seeds of something might be planted, but heck! how does one make the Church’s teaching on sexuality matter NOW, even a little bit, for these couples? Ten years ago they used to ask questions, sorting through the conflicted messages and grappling with the issues of abstinence, theology of the body, homosexuality, pornography, etc. Now they don’t seem to ask anymore, and are very defensive. Anyone out there with some ideas? (It’s a different story working with those who are seeking out a teacher and attracted to the moral life that the Church proposes.)
I always pray for marriage prep couples, lots.
