To the readers. Catholics besmirchment of a guy we all know to be terribly sick with fever for 11 days now, and who says he has one of the lesser known side effects, depression. Here is a fallacy. That it is necessary to participate in a hatchet job when someone is sick.

It is that doggone Cathoholic’s fault that Cuomo lied to you (or mislead you) about being “quarantined”!

There we go!

“By what authority did you nullify the Bill of Rights in issuing this order [temporarily banning religious gatherings]?” [Tucker] Carlson asked [NJ Governor] Murphy.

“That’s above my pay grade, Tucker,” the governor responded. “I wasn’t thinking of the Bill of Rights when we did this.”

“I can tell,” Carlson replied.

I think the Governor was candid and that is refreshing in this time of clinching your teeth, sneering, claiming everything perfect, and then adding you are a bad person for asking. But that’s just my opinion.
So this guy told the truth. Is it time to flog?
The decision is not an easy one. HAVE YOU STOPPED TO THINK ABOUT THIS TRUTH.
On the one hand you have the policy in the Bill of Rights. On the other, you are trying to save the lives of worshipers, their families and contacts. He didn’t think of it so not much contemplation, true. ( Tucker’s point)
But we can evaluate from a distance. If your mistake is one that intends public safety, you certainly are not evidencing you are a reprobate

You rail against trump, calling him a wanna be dictator and tyrant, for claiming he has authority the bill of rights (the 10th) says is not his. Just to be clear i agree that the authority in that instance is not his but the states. you then go on to give Murphy a pass for what very likely is taking authority not his by issuing orders preventing religious gatherings (the 1st). The Constitution either means something or it doesn’t. it either binds the hands of govt from doing certain things to the citizenry or it doesn’t. Some people seem to think that it only binds “the other guy” and if “my guy” does it, its perfectly fine because their intentions were good. I wholly reject that. I don’t care if the intentions are good, if it violates the Constitution the govt should not do it. when we start allowing violations because of good intentions we have no real restrictions on government and that is where we really get tyranny.

I don’t know much about Murphy. His legal position, is not without merit. Close questions are decided by the courts all the time.
This issue strikes of the issue of religious people rejecting vaccines for their kids. Ultimately, it reintroduces agents back into the population. I don’t think our religious freedom stretches that far. Once you infringe on others substantially in terms of security and health risk.
It isn’t a clear case and we shouldn’t act as if it does.

I’ll post it again, since in your haste to trip over yourself and respond 3 times as much as anyone else, you still managed to NOT respond to something related to the discussion when asked.
Be fair and at least acknowledge what financial impact this had on you before we continue this discussion.

This has caused hardship for me also. I’m sick of it. It disorients and causes anxiety. Before you even get to the health risk.
" Can worrying add a moment to your years," might be the only actual attempt at humor in the entire Gospel.

or only allow 2 or 3 people in the sanctuary at a time like many stores do.

My parish church in VA is open for “individual prayer” and we are told if there are ten people there to go back to your car and wait for someone to leave.

Didn’t Jesus tell us to find a private place to pray? Maybe this is a good time to give that a whirl.

Some churches seem to want to set up an enemy of the congregation. It makes for great group cohesion. Usually, only the pastor can be the one to save them and shepherd the folks off to heaven.

If local regulations can mandate fire exits, the government can surely say that churches must remain closed in an emergency. It is axiomatic that emergency measures do not infringe the free exercise of a religious faith.

Tucker Carlson is a columnist and not really a journalist. He looks for controversial things to say to raise his stature.

There are ways to socially distance and mitigate the spread of the virus without taking a torch to our rights
Few people are taking this sensible approach. It seems like people are either begging the government to take away all their rights or they’re being reckless and crowding into bars.

I want to be safe, so I keep my hands off my face when I go out. I keep space between myself and others. I wash my hands when I go home. But none of this is different from how I lived before. I have always been freaked out seeing people lick their fingers in stores and then touch everything. I have always been uncomfortable when people crowd up against me.

But now people are going too far in the other direction. The police are removing people from grocery stores if they don’t tie a bandana over their nose and mouth - a practice that causes people to touch their faces frequently to adjust the masks. People are calling the cops on each for perceived infractions of social distancing or for trying to get some fresh air without every breath coming through a damp germy bandana.

Always one extreme or the other.

What “emergency”?

I was told that we had an emergency to “flatten the curve”.

I was told we had an “emergency to prevent the collapse of our health care system”.

Both of these have passed.

We were told we were all going to get the virus anyway, but if we can just “flatten the curve” we can survive this thing.

What “emergency” are you talking about?

You have interiorized a very politicized distorted view of religion in my opinion

No. Jesus did not say that. AND…he founded a Church, where he told His disciples to “do this” in memory of me.

Matthew 6:5-6
5 “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
