Theyre not fit to govern; and as a Catholic, i ve no choice but to say that. Look up their abortion, cloning etc voting records in the Family Life International Australia Voting Guide for the recent election. Only three then-sitting ALP MPs had acceptable voting records in those areas! That includes the Senate! No need to mention The Greens; the worst enemy the environment has ever had!

Forum rules prevent complete honesty in expressing what i think of these “Governments”.

I hope you’re not going to tell us that all will be OK if only the Lib/Nat coalition wins back government. Their policies and record on the issues you mentioned is scarcely any better than the ALP’s.

i could never acknowledge those two collections of politicians as Governments. Same goes for that collection in Victoria. (Remember it`s “ground-breaking” abortion bill which was passed just on 2 years ago?)
A more appropriate word is a six-letter one which begins with “R”, and ends with “e”.

The truth is that, as a Catholic, i`m unable, in good conscience, to vote for a group of individuals with such a baleful anti-Life/pro-Death, depravity-promoting record!

I hope you’re not going to tell us that all will be OK if only the Lib/Nat coalition wins back government. Their policies and record on the issues you mentioned is scarcely any better than the ALP’s.

The total of Liberal/National MPs in the House of Representatives with an acceptable pro-Life voting record is fourteen; in the Senate, its ten. For The Greens, its…er…zero. Twenty four is pathetic, but still better than three.
At least Tony Abbott is a Catholic, with a good pro-Life voting record.
Being a Catholic whos on friendly terms with Cardinal Pell is a liability, though, isnt it! What do you think?

Just for your information: i put the genuine pro-Life groups first, meaning: having to fill in all eighty four of the Senate squares. The consolation, though, was being able to put my unfavourite groups last. But a L/NP Coalition would still be preferable to this other lot!

If you keep this up, i still have a fighting chance of reaching four figures before the year`s out.

I hate to break it to you, but as Catholics we have a duty to acknowledge and obey the established civil authority, not to hold it in contempt. As our Lord and St Paul taught. (And St Paul was writing at a time when the civil authority was Emperor Nero! ) Of course we must to everything we lawfully can to remove unjust laws, and although we are bound to obey all civil laws except those which are patently contrary to the moral law, we are bound to disobey laws which compel us to do evil (such as the Victorian law compelling doctors to refer people to abortionists.)

I think that’s a media beat-up to try to absurdly portray Abbott as some sort of insane religious fanatic whose every move is directly dictated by the Vatican. Whilst a (apparently practising and reasonably orthodox) Catholic PM would be better than an atheist PM, if the media image were true, Abbott would not have spent 4 years as Cwlth Health Minister doing absolutely nothing to prevent or restrict abortion, not even making even a token attempt to remove taxpayer payments of abortionists’ “professional fees”. And Abbott has stated publicly that he disagrees with the Church re contraception and re fornication, or at the very least has pointedly declined to say that he agrees with Church doctrine on these issues.

It’s not as if Abbott and Cd Pell regularly have a beer together. I very much doubt that Cd Pell has met Abbott more frequently than he has met any other major party leader.
