But what about Vegas? I’m pretty sure they are doing fine.

To be crystal clear, nothing in Catholic theology supports the notion that God reverts back to His Old Testament days and sends natural disasters to punish us for our sins. In fact, now would be a good time to remind people that per his Wikipedia page, Falou is not Catholic and, given his rejection of the Trinity, won’t be spokesman for the Catholic Church any time soon.

Blame is normally the first place where people go in order to make sense of senseless tragedies. Natural disaster? Serves you right! God’s punishing you for X, Y, or Z! Unnatural disaster? Well . . . so-and-so should have X or shouldn’t have Y.

Having a direction for pointing our fingers gives the illusion and comfort of control, especially amid the terrifying uncertainties that tragedies present.

In my opinion…

All sin is connected. Abortion and same-sex marriage are simply a part of a broader culture here in the USA, in Australia, and elsewhere, of selfishness, hedonism, consumerism, materialism, wastefulness, and egoism.

So indirectly: yes, I think the sexual revolution and manmade climate change are connected.

Is God literally sending disaster as a result of inhumane laws? No. But there are natural consequences to what we do in life and how we live.

I knew a priest who said after a priest had just been murdered (The priest was a faithful missionary) his country was devastated by a horrific hurricane. Australia you have put an innocent cardinal in prison. Pray for your sake he does not die there.

I don’t believe countries are punished for sins committed within those countries.I believe that whatever happens on earth happens.
God’s world is the world we strive to get to by living a good life here and by giving all praise and glory to God.

Have they put an innocent cardinal in jail? He had a fair trial, which he is allowed to appeal. I reckon God would be more angry by covered up sex abuse than by one incorrect conviction anyway. Regardless, I don’t believe that God would “smite” a country for something like that.

Just adding the evil done to the Cardinal onto the agenda of the OP.

Well said! Biggest fire in our state’s history burning an entire city down to the ground called Paradise because of our state’s sinfulness. No such thing as coincidences 😵
I was about 20 miles from Paradise when it was burning up, but this didn’t have anything to do with the sinfulness of California. It had more to do with climate change which has caused forests to turn into tinderboxes and PG&E was probably partly responsible for not maintaining its power lines as well as they should have.

Not an approved locution but the person truly was a man who suffered injustice. Article about God’s justice and mercy regarding the sins of nations.

" Disaster is upon you as in the times of Noah. Not by flood, but by fire will the destruction come. An immense flood of fire shall destroy nations for sinning before God. Since the beginning of the world, there’s never been such a fall as there is today."

Cardinal had a fare trial ??? No way!

"The attempt to hide the loans off-books was detected by the Prefecture for the Economy, then led by Cardinal George Pell. Senior officials at the Prefecture for the Economy told CNA that when Pell began to demand details of the loans, especially those involving BSI, then-Archbishop Becciu called the cardinal in to the Secretariat of State for a “reprimand.” "
Lies a culture of lies…a farce trial…

It aint a coincidence, everything ties in. They didn’t clear the dead trees and left the forest as is, the government (state and fed) and pg&e dismissed doing anything about that issue with the powerlines. Sin of this state, dismissal of taking care of the forests, we as a state are paying the price. No coincidences only Godincidences

Sodom and Gomorrah — The flood (Noah). Moses leaving Egypt… Egypt was giving many punishments. The sign of Jonah ( the people in that entire country repented.)The destruction of the temple in Jerusalem after the death of Jesus. I guess God can correct people and nations.

Forests naturally get dead trees in them. It’s been happening for millions of years. The Plumas National Forest is 1,146,000 acres. Do you think that forest service people should have been out there raking the forest?

Raking and cutting where the powerlines are. If I recall they could only cut a few feet from the powerlines. The lumber industry also has been pretty much gone from the state for a couple decades now.

On a lighter note, this one couple from paradise supposedly had their hundred million dollar emerald rock burned and are asking pg&e to pay for it. Like dang thats some story right there lol

I have kept an eye on this guy ever since his 1st outspoken tweets. Being a rugby fan.

Many folk seem to think our loving God causes these natural disasters.

Homosexuality and abortions exist long before Australia was even colonised in the world.

The Lord knows how wicked this world is already and doesn’t need any ex Rugby player to speak for him.

As much as I like him. He’s causing more harm than good in my humble opinion.

Sorry but I feel this statement is wrong.

Jesus told of the temple falling to fullil prophecy.
I think you have miss understood why the Temple fell.

Jesus was the new church (cornerstone) and St Peter was going to to be the rock in which he would build a new temple/church on.

Egypt was giving many punishments because he stiffened the neck of their leader. So he could use him to show his great power and mercy. So the whole world would come toknow there was only one God.

Remember God sent many of his loving people to Egypt, some to hide away from wickedness of Israel.

Nothing to do with correcting his people one thinks. If I’m wrong please tell me.

the monstrous spiders
Which spiders are those? 🕷️🕸️
Huntsmen. I’m like the Steve Irwin of Huntsmen rangling in my house. My husband and kids are wussy. 😄

To be fair, he didn’t just speak out against homosexuality, he said gay people would go to Hell. That’s an important distinction I feel.
Yes, the family religion is a very fundamentalist one. They left one church to start another in order not to be tamed in their rigid evangelising. Folau’s cousin Josiah was sacked this year from a Sydney boarding school for referring to the Catholic Church as the “synagogue of Satan”. In fact, the majority of Australians are condemned in their perspective.
