Auxiliary Bishop of Newark attacked during mass

So many questions to be answered. But, offering prayers for the bishop and his attacker. :crossrc:
 
Sadly, today we need to be extremely aware of our surroundings because these attacks against Christians will most likely escalate. I noticed right away, this man was wearing a hat. Even my dad, who had not been to mass in decades, immediately took off his hat upon entering the sanctuary. We need to protect our priests, and our bishops. I pray this bishop is doing well and that his attacker repents and is healed from this evil misdeed.
 
Our parish bulletins for this past weekend were already printed when this attack occurred. The bulletins announced diocese-wide mandatory security precautions for ushers.

A relative of mine was scheduled to be one of the lectors at Mass, and someone else went up to do the 2nd reading of the Mass. I’m too far away to understand where this confusion might have arisen, but my relative’s name was listed in the bulletin on the schedule for reading. This is a low-level breach of security by a person who is thought to be unstable. But, the consequences could have been worse. I’m not sure how that person knew exactly what to read, by the way.

Oh, that’s why lectors have to go through the diocesan ethics and integrity class.
