what are you talking about? They spell it Baptist. Some southern folks pronounce it Babtist, but they don’t spell it that way.

Oh yay, another variant.
Slightly off topic, does anybody else remember the many cheesy years (approximately 1978-1998 or thereabouts) that John the Baptist became “John the Baptizer”? I hated that. Even the liturgy of the word had that ‘change’ for some of those years. I suppose it was because some people were afraid we would get confused and think he was a Southern Baptist or something. . .

I’m a Baptist who goes to a fairly large Baptist church and I have never ever seen that before.

The main problem I have is with words like will and well. Unfortunately spellchecker is not going to see those kinds of mistakes.

They call John the baptizer because that is what he did, baptize the Jews, but also because he wea a regular Baptist

“Regular” (or “Particular”) Baptists hold to Calvinist views, such as the idea that Christ died for a “particular” group of people, not all.
“General” Baptists are Arminian, and believe Christ died for humanity as a whole.
Many modern Baptists in America combine “Regular” and “General” views, believing Christ died for all, but also believing in total depravity and perseverance of the saints.

I’m sorry, It was probably me that misspelled Baptist. You know you can’t spell when you can’t find it on a spell checker. I can spell CATHOLIC real well.

It wasn’t just you; in fact, I’ve never seen you before in my life. I’ve seen Baptists misspell Baptist! (Or, at least, I think they were Baptist.I’m sorry, It was probably me that misspelled Baptist. You know you can’t spell when you can’t find it on a spell checker. I can spell CATHOLIC real well.
