'Baby Joseph' Gets Second Chance at Life in U.S

“The baby who was hours from being pulled off life support at his Canadian hospital has been rescued by the national director of Priests for Life and taken to the U.S. for treatment.”

“Thirteen-month-old Joseph Maraachli, who is currently kept alive by a respirator and was recently denied a transfer to a Michigan hospital to undergo a tracheotomy, arrived in the U.S. early Monday morning with Fr. Frank Pavone and other Priests for Life staff.”

I have not been following this story closely, but was interested that no mention was ever made in the story about the baby’s parents. What has been their involvement? :confused:
 
I stayed up way too late last night reading Fr. Pavone’s Facebook updates on the transfer. The baby’s father accomapied Baby Joseph to the US.
 
The parents of this baby have fought for his life every moment.
It was the nation of Canada that said his life was useless.

No one said his life was ‘useless’ much less the ‘nation of Canada’. That comment is over the top.

Specialists in both the Canada and the US concurred with his doctors at the London hospital that further treatment was futile and that a trach was invasive and contraindicated since he will not survive. Why prolong his suffering?

I’ll re-phrase for you then.
Medical doctors in Canada saw no point in additional treatment for this baby.
This was despite the fact that a few options remained for treatment.

Now, transferred to the USA, the baby is able to receive more
comprehensive treatment with more options under consideration.

He is a patient in Cardinal Glennon MC in St. Louis MO.
IOW, he is now in a Catholic MC where his parents’ wishes are heard.
