Hi everyone! I’m a pregnant mother of 2 looking for a decent pregnancy forum to connect with other like minded pregnant ladies. I pretty much got run out of BabyCenter on a rail…
 
I wasn’t given a formal boot but after a heated debate over a post from a woman aborting her Down Syndrome child I asked where the line was drawn between a personal attack and an expression of a pro-life opinion. Since abortion is categorized by Babycenter as a legal medical procedure any statement to the contrary is considered a personal attack, I said it seemed a little Orwellian…and I was flagged for abuse and the firestorm of comments began. Just feel unwelcome there now.

How sad that you can’t be pro-life on a pregnancy forum!
 
Unfortunately, not surprising. People love Tolerance and Broadmindedness until they are presented with views they don’t agree with; people holding these views are obviously Bigoted and Hateful and therefore not deserving of Tolerance!

Ooh, and criticizing another person’s Right to Choose–that’s especially awful.

I expect the parenting forums on here would be a more congenial atmosphere for you.
 
I was on a parenting forum with similar attitudes. A group of us all eventually left and one of the members made a great forum for conservative moms. Amazingly, us leaving wasn’t good enough. One of the women from the original forum got a bunch of her friends together to hack into the site and cause all sorts of trouble.

Yeah…tolerance. We won’t even let you have your own opinions in a locked-away, hidden corner of the web where we don’t even have to see them… 😦

Welcome to CAF, and I’m glad you took a stand. The way I see it, your words are still out there, and you never know who you may impact to reconsider.
 
Thanks for the welcome everyone. I felt like many of the woman on that board who were being blasted for “judging” the original poster weren’t judging the woman as much as they were pleading for the life of that child. It was really a sad thing that turned ugly. Just so tired of all the judging of who’s judging. They’ll stone a woman for admitting to taking a drag off a cigarette or eating Taco Bell for breakfast in those boards but calling abortion killing is a no-no. What’s a sane person to do?!
 
I got in trouble because I asked a few moms why they didn’t go ahead an marry the “baby daddy”. I cannot understand why you would have a kid with a man but not want to marry him. THey didn’t like my point of view and sort of sent me on my way. I never did find another forum.
 
hi 🙂 were you by chance posting on the Feb 2014 board? I saw a post about some lady aborting b/c of Down Syndrome and it made me angry and sad. I tend to stick to the Feb 2014 Rainbow babies board…the women there are much more sympathetic and less dramatic…

Ohh, how i remember that from pregnancy forums when I was pregnant. If you ate a hot dog, or tuna, or whatever, the knives would come out. “oh how dare you take a tylenol!” Yeah. People really love to be judgmental with pregnancy…parenting too. It can be tough.

To be fair…while I agree that marriage is the best way to bring up kids, getting married isn’t always the solution to an unplanned pregnancy. The Church does not teach this either. At least in my diocese, they won’t even marry pregnant couples, because they don’t want the decision to marry to be made in haste, or simply as a result of the pregnancy.
Not that I am advocating out of wedlock childbearing, of course.
 
Yes! I started a separate thread by the title 1984 in which I stated that it was kinda creepy that you’d be considered personally attacking others to state an opinion contrary to the status quo. I was then personally attacked 🤷 and a battle of semantics ensued. It was removed after about an hour and a half.

:(…I never even saw that thread but I agree with you 100%! I had so many things to say to that woman but kept my tongue in check…I get very upset when people “terminate for medical reasons” partly b/c I have a daughter who has a rare chromosome duplication and there are people out there who would abort if they had known…my DD was the cutest baby ever (and now a very cute 5 year old) and I love her to pieces!!!

When are you due? I’m due Feb 6th provided I don’t miscarry again…I’m super nervous about that and haven’t told a lot of people b/c of it…
 
It seems you’re not allowed to say kill or murder because that implies that the person having an abortion is a murderer/ killer. But terminating a pregnancy makes that person a terminator which comes with an awesome leather jacket and cool accent?!? It all gets so confusing. I am due the 16th. If you’re due the 6th then you’re about 13 weeks, right? You’re about out of the woods and safely in second trimester! I’ll be praying for you and your little one.

For those of us who are fathers… What is the objections to hot dogs, tuna or taco bell ? :confused:
 
If the lady feels judged, then maybe she knows that she’s doing something wrong, but is doing it anyway.

I had an unplanned pregnancy, but choose life for my daughter. She was adopted, but she lives and is healthy and happy. (She’s going to be 11 this year!)

We all know that Downs’ babies can have good lives. In fact, there’s a girl with down’s on my son’s tee-ball team and she’s just amazing. She smiles all the time and talks to everyone. She really just inspires all of us, even though we know that she has to try a bit harder than the “normal” kids. (And the more ‘normal’ kids, definitely have their issues too. Mine is the one who always plays with the dirt on the baseball field w/ or w/out his glove!)

It’s sad that our society puts more value on someone’s feelings than someone’s life.

Welcome! I wouldn’t say that you were a “BC Reject”, but rather in BabyCenter Recovery.

thank you 🙂 yes I will be 13 weeks on either weds or thursday (different places say different things lol!)
