I remember as a kid we were not allowed to sing “protestant” Christmas carols that misstated the message of the Gloria (nor any other obviously protestant hymns, however my grandma’s favorite was “church in the wildwood” and it is still mine)

Emmaus:
I am also for the Kyrie, Gloria and Agnus Dei in Latin at Mass. This is not too much for anyone to learn and understand.
I thought the Kyrie is Greek. Couldn’t help picking a nit. 🙂 🙂

I asked this at an earlier thread but did not get a satifactory conclusion. So here it is again.

Why is it that during mass we say in the:

Gloria
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us

but in the
Angus Dei
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world.

and
Gospel of St. John (1:29)
“Behold, the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the…”

Is it sin or sins?

Translation error? Any correction in the latest translation?

Did Christ die for our sin (Original Sin) or all subsequent sins?
