I never bother getting flu shots. I don’t have a job where I work around elderly, hospital patients, or children and I don’t have children myself, so it’s not worth going through the illness I see some of my workmates get from the shot, and end up not protected or barely protected from the flu strains anyway.

Have had flu about 3 times in my life - once as a child, once in college and once as an adult when we traveled to a distant part of the country and both of us picked up some rogue strain in the middle of summer.

My mom also refused to get any type of flu shots and I remember her having the flu maybe twice in the 50 years I knew her. She did tell a story about having had a really bad case of the Asian flu in the 50s when that particularly virulent strain was going around.

If you’re coughing and sneezing please stay home! If you go to Mass please skip the Challis and hand shakes!
I had a cold (not the flu) recently, and that’s what I did, or more precisely, what I didn’t do 😃

D

Or maybe YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN A FLU SHOT.

sheesh.

Too late now, I guess.

Frankly, I’m not worried. 🤓

😁 ah come on,I can’t think of any other reason I didn’t catch it…I was surrounded by sick people 🙂

Well, if you ate enough fish oil . . . maybe they didn’t get close enough. 😉

I never get a flu shot. Actually my doctors recommend against it. I know I will get the flu once or twice a year, have already had it once this year really bad.

I take the proper precautions to protect others around me.

I work in a parish office. I am STUNNED by the number of people who come in when they are very sick or the drag in their super sick kids. There is nothing that takes place in the parish office that requires climbing out of your sickbed. We will send a priest to your house for Confession or Anointing and send an EMHC to bring you the Eucharist.

And the store, WHY? Do you not have one friend who will go buy you the basics so you don’t have to bring all of the fevered, hacking kids to Kroger?

You had actual, diagnosed in a laboratory influenza? Or you were really sick and called it the flu? The CDC keeps track of county flu rates. Was your case included in the count? If you get true influenza twice a year, you’re in really bad shape.

Umm yeah.

Actually MANY people are stuck dragging sick kids around precisely because they have no friends or family to help out.

It’s not that uncommon.

The only reason I didn’t today is because the local store had a free coupon for their to-go service where you order online and they bring it to your car.

As many as 49,000 people die of the flu annually. Maybe you’re healthy enough to survive, but what if you’re carrying it and visit Auntie Edwina in the nursing home?

Yeah, the new curb pickup is a real game-changer.

For years, I’ve been wishing there was a drive thru for Gatorade, chicken soup, Children’s Motrin and Saltines.

I have never gotten a flu shot and the last time we all had the flu was probably 10 years ago. But maybe it as just a virus.

Of course, I did not go to the hospital, or get a lab test, so I can’t be sure and obviously the county wasn’t notified…

I’ll take my chances. Sacramentals are not scary to me. 😊
Most parishes load them with bleach/chlorine anyway.
