And I have a sinus condition too with similar symptoms. I am not offended if someone does not shake my hand. How would they know I am not contagious or you’re not contagious?
I’ve actually never been concerned about this in real life and when someone declines to shake my hand, I assume it is something that they just don’t do. It is only when I come online that I realize that there are people out there who make judgemental assumptions about people coughing and sneezing.

I don’t understand all the fuss about people being sick like its something new. People have been sick and stayed home, or come to mass for as long as there has been mass. No one was wearing masks or waving at people until recently. Every year we hear about how bad the flu is, and honestly, I have never heard anyone trace it to going to mass. If they did, I wonder how they actually knew? And since colds and strep and everything else people fear don’t show up for a while, how do you know that person next to you that looks fine to you isn’t actually contagious and doesn’t know it yet?

When I start getting a sore throat, I have two teaspoons of raw fresh garlic on two pieces of toast with butter. Sore throat goes. 😀
You also probably don’t have to worry about shaking hands at the sign of peace either!

I had the flu shot and still got (was diagnosed with) the flu over Christmas. News is reporting the flu shot was not effective for most strains this year.

We’ll be staying home. 😷

Not the flu, thank goodness, but baby girl was up all night vomiting, spiked a fever, and then clinging to me all day. I’m sure we are all just dripping norovirus.

She’s been improving tonight but she’ll be contagious for quite a bit longer. I’ll give our congregation a reprieve from our noxious selves for this week and pray the rest of us aren’t affected.

I am still immune suppressed two years after a stem cell transplant. Although I mask and glove up at mass, I still developed concurrent Rhinovirus and Metapneumovirus. Since transplant, I have been hyper-aware of coughs and sneezes.

Frankly, recent masses have sounded like being in a sick bay. I do not recall ever hearing as much coughing and sneezing in the hospital!

All I know too face mask is recommended on some region in Japan for early protection.
