This is a revival of a thread from a few years back and an idea from another current thread. I realize the topic is not at all objective, but it might be fun to get differing opinions. So, I guess I need to try to think of my idea of the a Bad Movie to be avoided and use your time with something more constructive. 🙂

I think I will start with: Jaws The Revenge.

Prometheus and Alien Covenant.

I haven’t seen either of these, because although I love science fiction, I don’t waste time with dreck. However I respect Steven Graydanus’ opinion, and he gives them low grades. “Fans of the gooey and bloody and running and screaming will find more to enjoy in Alien: Covenant than they did in Prometheus.”
They are full of Biblical references, also references to Norse and Greek mythology, Nazis, and all perverted to a nihilistic conception of mankind’s creation. No thanks.

.

The last in the Hobbit Trilogy - ‘The Battle of the Five Armies’.

Horribly rushed CGI.

Ugly film.

The Golden Compass it takes the Cristian themes of “The Lion The Witch And the Wardrobe” and turns them on their head.
**Schindler’s List ** Torture porno takes historical liberties
Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy Heavy atheistic themes

Zardoz: I still don’t know what it’s about considering how abstract and weird it is plus the scene I remember most is where these people are testing a man and essentially go “Ah, so that’s what makes him aroused.” (No, it is not a porno, but that’s just an example of where it gets weird.)

The American: Boring, overly slow, and the most exciting parts you see will be a man walking on stairs.

And yet, there are many who proclaim it to be one of the best movies ever made. :hmmm:
They aren’t me! I might have been impressed had I seen it when it first came out on the big screen. I was in my teens then & liked psychedelic art. Tastes change with maturity. 😉

Anything currently being produced with a DC super hero in it. Superman: Man of Steel. Batman vs Superman. Wonder Woman. You name it, they’re trash.

Funny…I saw it a year or two ago on Netflix after not having seen it in many years and not only was it better and more intriguing than ever, it captivated me so much that I watched it twice in one week. It is the perfect combination of music and visuals. Kubrick was at the height of his game for this one.

Thanks for that. Blood and gore followed by more blood and gore… yech. And nihilism.

The Astronaut Farmer

This film is about a retired NASA astronaut who decides to build a rocket in his barn.

I just can’t really find the words to comment on this film…

Maybe it’s because in the story, the main character is a farmer, and his character name is “Mr. Farmer.” I don’t know…

There are people who really like this film. I’m just not one of them. :o 😊

Here is a synopsis of the film, from IMDB, in case anyone would like to see it:

A NASA astronaut (Thornton), forced to retire years earlier so he could save his family farm, has never given up his dream of space travel and looks to build his own rocket, despite the government’s threats to stop him.

I know this might not be a popular choice here, but I have almost nothing positive to say about The Passion of the Christ.

My husband just saw a movie, “Why Him?” with James Franco. He hated it.

The Godfather, Part 3. :dts: Nope.

It doesn’t count. It’s terrible. There is no Part 3. :tsktsk:

Count me among them. To each there own. 🙂
It’s really well made, with the special effects, and very beautiful to look at. I wouldn’t change it in anyway. But at the same time it’s a difficult to watch because of length and in spots a bit lulling. It’s more like a piece of art than something entertaining.
