Does the Bible and the Quran have anything in common?

I dont mean to sound ignorant but I do not know about Islam.

**The Bible was inspired by the Holy Spirit.

The Coran was composed by a pedophile deluded by demons.

Any grown man who has sexual intercourse with a 9 year old girl is by definition a pedophile.**

No not really - mohamads koran has taken Biblical stories and butchered them beyond recognition.

Muslims believe that there are 5 prophets that their books are inspired by the Holy Spirit.
2 them is Quran and Bible.
I don’t know about his sexual activities…
Also Muslims think that Bible is selection of Jesus Christ and also they say that there are Bibles with different writers…
but I don’t care about that… the most important part of this is, there are a huge part of people that believe Bible and Quran…

** These are silly statements of bpbasilphx. The prophet married the young and virgin Aeysha at the age of about 55 years. The Quran was revealed 15 years before that when there was no Aeysha. That was when prophet was 40 years old. He had a good wife, Khadijah, a widow 15 years senior to him in age.

Just think, at age 25 he was asked by a widow aged 40 years for marriage. he presented himself and agreed to her request for marriage. The sinful people like bpbasilphx will have to do a lot of good work before approaching Muhammad.

Quran was revealed in year 610 A.D. That was first revelation. It continued for about 15 years without any objectionable thing from the sinful christians. Then came Aeysha which gave the sinful christians some food for bad thouhgt… about the prophet Muhammad.**

Hi, I am not a scholar but you dont seem to get a lot of help with your question. I will give you a start of what i picked up but you will need to check it out and pray about it.

Both the Quran and some books of the Bible state or imply Yahooshua, Jesus, Isa (pbwh) was given the pure spirit and or was without sin.

There are stories in all three major monotheistic religions that are very similar.

Many suggest they are stolen from earlier traditions and used for the advantage of the new tradition. Some say this is by spirits and others just by man.

You will find it real hard here CAF to get many people to discuss your question without serious bias and desire to bash.

Seek earnestly and you will find.

example,

That is read the the book of Noah (pbuh) to disprove the bible and you will find many plausible reasons for it to be untrue.
Read it to find truth of Gods love and care for those who submit to Him and you will see an awe inspiring story that your own life experience echoes.

In history men have taken young wives, at puberty one was considered ready for marriage.

In some cases if a family could not provide for the child she would be promised early to ensure her provision.

While we in evolved society deplore such thought it is notable that some ancient king / leader of Gods people was give a young woman because he was so old.

For me personally the respondent that rambled of the statement of the child bride did not consider you in your question but jumped on a soap box.

My God loves you and calls me to serve you not my agenda.

I always have concern of those who serve their own agenda, who is their god.

The God of Yahooshua, Jesus, Isa (pbwh) called him to put his agenda aside and serve you.

With respect to Sam i am way of his thread so if you want to chat PM me.

God bless you and yours.

PS Bless ya Sam, while the Catholic church teaches me not to use “keys” for scripture my prayer life has shown me the ancients did this very much so is of great interest to me, but i pray lots on these ways as it can open a door to support my will not His will. Pray well and stay well Brother.

**R C, I am also a friend of the friends like you. Not going to agree to bbplax people. My That post was entirely about the poster who was abusive. i do not understand why you always jump into it trying to save those abusers.

If I called the poster a sinful person then that was also by the theory of the church that all persons (male or females) are sinful, even new born babies too. You have just got heated without reason. You may please leave it to that abuser to reply to me.

I gave facts that the Quran was not started by any pedeophile. It was revealed from year 610 A.D. when there was nothing bad. It appears that all of you people have adverse agenda against Islam. So let it be that way. You will gain nothing out of your bad agenda.

It would be better for you R C if you are really sincere to try to control and advice your abusive friend and not to be angry on me. Otherwise you will expose yourself as an agent of the abusers, an unjust person, unjust catholic.**

Does the Bible and the Quran have anything in common?

I dont mean to sound ignorant but I do not know about Islam.
The person of Jesus or Isa in Arabic (peace be upon him) is of great significance in both Islam and Christianity. However, there are differences in terms of beliefs about the nature and life occurrences of this noble Messenger.

Like Christians, Muslims believe Mary, Maria in Spanish, or Maryam as she is called in Arabic, was a chaste, virgin woman, who miraculously gave birth to Jesus.
Relate in the Book the story of Mary, when she withdrew from her family, to a place in the East. She screened herself from them; then We sent to her Our spirit (angel Gabriel) and he appeared before her as a man in all respects. She said: I seek refuge from you in God Most Gracious (come not near) if you do fear God. He said: Nay, I am only a Messenger from your Lord, to announce to you the gift of a pure son. She said: How shall I have a son, when no man has ever touched me, and I am not unchaste? He said: So it will be, your Lord says: ‘That is easy for Me; and We wish to appoint him as a sign unto men and a Mercy from Us’: It was a matter so decreed" (Quran 19:16-21).

muslims either believe that jesus spoke in the cradle
"Then she (Mary) pointed to him. They said: ‘How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?’ He (Jesus) said: ‘Verily! I am a slave of God, He has given me the Scripture and made me a Prophet; " (19:29-30).

Muslims, like Christians believe Jesus performed miracles. But these were performed by the will and permission of God, Who has power and control over all things.

"Then will God say: ‘O Jesus the son of Mary! recount My favor to you and to your mother. Behold! I strengthened you with the Holy Spirit (the angel Gabriel) so that you did speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. Behold! I taught you the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel. And behold: you make out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and you breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by My leave, and you heal those born blind, and the lepers by My leave. And behold! you bring forth the dead by My leave. And behold! I did restrain the children of Israel from (violence to you) when you did show them the Clear Signs, and the unbelievers among them said: ‘This is nothing but evident magic’ (5:110).

Muslims believe in the Absolute Oneness of God, Who is a Supreme Being free of human limitations, needs and wants. He has no partners in His Divinity. He is the Creator of everything and is completely separate from His creation.

God says in the Quran regarding the Trinity:

“O’people of the Book (Jews and Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, and attribute to God nothing except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was only a Messenger of God, and His command that He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in God and in His Messengers, and do not say: ‘God is a Trinity.’ Give up this assertion; it would be better for you. God is indeed just One God. Far be it from His glory that He should have a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and in the earth. God is sufficient for a guardian” (Quran 4:171).

muslims don’t believe that jesus is the son of God
"Say: “God is Unique! God, the Source [of everything]. He has not fathered anyone nor was He fathered, and there is nothing comparable to Him!” (Quran 112:1-4).

“Such was Jesus, the son of Mary; it is a statement of truth, about which they vainly dispute. It is not befitting to the majesty of God, that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! When He determines a matter, He only says to it, ‘Be’ and it is” (Quran 19:34-35).

muslims don’t believe that jesus killed on the cross then resurrected
"“They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but they thought they did.” (Quran 4:156) “God lifted him up to His presence. God is Almighty, All-Wise” (Quran 4:157) .

Too bad the theory doesn’t make any sense, and diverges tremendously from historical facts.

You don’t do yourself any credit promoting this sort of nonsense here.
By in large I tend to be leery of the whole numerology thing to. What are some of things that jumped out at you as being inconsistent about the theory? The reason I ask is because even though I’ve never heard this secret code idea before I’ve heard many people say they think that a Christian heretic was a strong influence on Mohammed. I’ve even heard one Muslim suggest it oddly enough. I don’t know if any of that is true, but if there are historical problems with all of that it would be good to know. I may not be Muslim but at the same time that doesn’t mean I want to just believe anything anyone says about it.

Interesting way friend. I would also like to learn these codes to learn Holy Quran. Thanks for sharing such an interesting stuff.

I just kind of reiterate what most people have said already, which is most goofy codes found in holy texts are to be taken with a grain of salt.

Last Friday Fr. Zakaria explained Bahira codes in Quran, and how Bahira encoded some verses in Quran which are pointing to the divinity of Jesus (after he saw how Muhammed have gained power and was unstoppable).

The code table called in Arabic “جدول حساب الجمّل” (English: Abjad numerals) (aka: sentences calculation table), it maps each Arabic letter to a numerical value, and it was used during Muhammed days per the hadith at the end of this post, here is the table:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_UpqHisCK3VE/Sezq4KOPDMI/AAAAAAAABJM/xFl_O3aEsl4/s320/حساب-الجمل.gif
(Reference#1), (Reference#2), (Reference#3).

If we go back to Quran which has some weird verses that no one of the Islamic commentators have found logical explanation to them:

A) The verses which have one Arabic letter (ن)،(ق)،(ص), are found in (Quran 68:1),(Quran 50:1),(Quran 38:1).
B) The verses which have two Arabic letters and not repeated (طس)،(يس)،(طه), are found in (Quran 27:1),(Quran 36:1),(Quran 20:1).
C) The verses which have two Arabic letters and repeated seven times (حم), are found in (Quran 40:1),(Quran 41:1),(Quran 42:1),(Quran 43:1),(Quran 44:1),(Quran 45:1),(Quran 46:1).
D) The verses which have three Arabic letters and repeated two times only (طسم), are found in (Quran 26:1),(Quran 28:1).
E) The verses which have three Arabic letters and repeated six times (الم), are found in (Quran 2:1),(Quran 3:1),(Quran 29:1),(Quran 30:1),(Quran 31:1),(Quran 32:1).
F) The verses which have three Arabic letters and repeated five times (الر), are found in (Quran 10:1),(Quran 11:1),(Quran 12:1),(Quran 14:1),(Quran 15:1).
G) The verses which have four Arabic letters (المر)،(المص), are found in (Quran 13:1),(Quran 7:1).
H) The verses which have five Arabic letters (كهيعص)،‏(حم عسق), are found in (Quran 19:1),(Quran 42:1-2).

Now if we used that Abjad numerals with the above groups we would get the following:  :gopray2:

A) 50 + 100 + 90 = 240, which equals (Arabic: “المسيح والله واحد”) (English: Jesus & God are one).
B) (9+60) + (10+60) + (9+5) = 153, which equals (Arabic: “كلاهما إلهاً واحد”) (English: Both are one God).
C) (8+40) X 7 = 336, which equals (Arabic: “يسوع هو ابن الإله الوحيد”) (English: Jesus is only Son of God).
D) (9+60+40) X 2 = 218, which equals (Arabic: “الآب والابن هم إله أحد” (English: The Father & Son are one God).
E) (1+30+40) X 6 = 426, which equals (Arabic: “يسوع هو صٌلب وقام”) (English: Jesus crucified and raised).
F) (1+30+200) X 5 = 1155, which equals (Arabic:“الخلاص هو دم المسيح المصلوب”) (English: Salvation is the blood of crucified Jesus).
G) (1+30+40+200) + (1+30+40+90) = 432, which equals (Arabic: “روح الله يكون الله”) (English: God spirit is God).
H) (20+5+10+70+90) + (8+40+70+60+100) = 473, which equals (Arabic: “وروح الله وهو قدوس”) (English: His Spirit & He is Holy).

However, that “Abjad numerals” was at use by the Arabic Jews during Muhammed days per this hadith from Ibn-Katheir commentary:
