Why can’t you have a discussion without reeking of sarcasm on every post directed to those who don’t share your views???

I’m trying to be as polite as possible with you…
Debora, your stated opinion is extremely uncharitable.
Also generalizations tend to fail of their own weight.

It’s actually already changed. But your post did come across as very sarcastic. I hope you would at least see how I interpreted it that way. It’s off-putting. And I’m not here to play games, and I am confused, wondering why you would assume that of me.
I apologize if my tone was something other than what I meant it to be. That is one of the great drawbacks of communicating on a forum.

I am glad that you have changed your position.

Peace

Tim

What opinion did I have that was uncharitable? I called you out for being sarcastic - that wasn’t an opinion, that was a fact. Or are you going to deny that you were being sarcastic? If you are denying the sarcasm, and your posts towards me and a few others were actually perfectly genuine, then I am sincerely sorry for the misunderstanding. Is this the case?

And also, how do I prove my point? You asked for an example, and I gave you the first thing I saw. Would you like more?

Right, and what some of us are saying is that WE wouldn’t do that same. This doesn’t translate to “we support gay marriages.”
Debora, use logic.
At this point you have proved that you and Darren agree.

Is that your “we” regarding this?

Better yet, forget the whole thing.

I’m talking about those of us who WOULDN’T have turned down the gay couple.

I said this:

“The point some of us are trying to get across is that making a cake for a paying customer’s wedding doesn’t mean you support the wedding… it just means you’re a cake making business and you make cakes for people who pay you to make cakes.”

You then stated that no one here is saying that a person would be supporting the wedding by making their cake.

I refuted this point by giving you an example of someone who says exactly that. That’s where Darran’s quote comes in.

Then you say something like “oh thanks, one example.”

So I asked you if you wanted more.

So very true.

Where and when debora?
Show me that post, please.

Although you’re speaking against me, I still have to say thanks for spelling my name right 👍 Even my bank gets it wrong.

Darran, I am not speaking against you. I was only showing Catharina that some people here HAVE been saying that making those women a cake would equate to supporting their marriage, since she wouldn’t take my word for it. I’m sorry I had to drag your name into this, but it was not meant badly.

No harm, no foul. 👍

Again, debora, you said (regarding me):"*You then stated that no one here is saying that a person would be supporting the wedding by making their cake. *"

**So again, I ask:

Where and when debora? Show me that post, please.**

Certainly

There’s the post. I have bolded, underlined, and italicized where you questioned my claim regarding some people here saying we’d be supporting gay marriage by having made that cake.
Debora, I did NOT deny your claim.

I asked for ordinary examples that led to your statement.
That is more or less ORDINARY on forums.
It is not an attack or a denial or an assault.
I did not insult you at all - yet you continue to insult me.

WHY?

There is no special privilege attached to any of us
that states another poster can not ask for more information.
or again … never mind.

And here’s another one:

Debora123:
A lot of people have been alluding to the fact that having sold that cake would be supporting the marriage. If you have not seen this, perhaps you should go a few pages back and start reading all the threads from there?
Again, who said it did?

Check it yourself.
I’m not searching for your unsupported conclusion.
Why would I?
It’s YOUR conclusion.
So then I gave you an example (Darran), and last we talked before all this misunderstanding, you seemed to be complaining because I only showed you ONE example… so I asked you if you wanted another example and have yet to hear your response to that.

This is the point where the mods come in and tell us to stop quibbling or the thread will be closed.

🤷

I apologize… when you asked me for proof I assumed it was because you didn’t believe me or take my word for it. My apologies.

The only times I thought you insulted me were with your sarcasm (which I made you aware of), not with asking for proof.

Where have I insulted you? I have been trying really hard to be polite to you.

Yes, I have been trying to clear things up with Catherina by answering all her questions so we can go back to having a normal discussion. There seems to have been a misunderstanding but hopefully we are close to getting it all sorted out now.

Maybe you have been
“trying really hard to be polite.”

It is not polite to accuse someone of being sarcastic
and calling it “FACT” not simply your opinion.

Anyway, debora, truly I no longer care.

So God bless you and buh-bye.
