Baker gets sued the third time

“A new lawsuit has been filed against Masterpiece Cakeshop that appears to largely rehash old claims,” Campbell told The Daily Signal.

Scardina is going after Phillips in the latest lawsuit over discrimination and unfair trade practices because, as one of Scardina’s attorneys, Paula Greisen, told CBS4:
“The dignity of all citizens in our state needs to be honored. Masterpiece Cakeshop said before the Supreme Court they would serve any baked good to members of the LGBTQ community. It was just the religious significance of it being a wedding cake. We don’t believe they’ve been honest with the public.”
However, Campbell said that the newest lawsuit is “yet another desperate attempt to harass cake artist Jack Phillips” and “it stumbles over the one detail that matters most: Jack serves everyone; he just cannot express all messages through his custom cakes.”

It’s the same dude who has sued him the previous two times and has harassed him repeatedly with ridiculous confectionary demands. Phillips should get a restraining order on this guy, and the dude needs to get slapped with a fine or charged for vindictive lawsuits.

Anyway this new suit was filed a few weeks ago.

If it’s rehashing old claims, hopefully the judge will throw it out sooner if not later.

I also hope if all these suits are coming from the same person, the baker is counter-suing.

I had a casual conversation with a legal professional about this. She thinks it is more about going after the law than the baker. With the baker one can be confident that he will refuse and that the issue will be taken to court. If one chooses a different baker the baker might not refuse and thus not open a pathway to court.

Yes of course it is more about “going after the law than the baker”, but this small individual baker is suffering the consequences of having to be the target of litigation.

He doesn’t have to sit there and take it because someone is “going after the law” using him as the scapegoat.

This May be true, but don’t kid yourself, destroying people like Phillips along the way is equally important to them.
