An alleged world wide web of deceit using the Catholic name. It’s a business accused of ripping off thousands of dollars. It’s headquarters, right here in Bakersfield.

The business calls itself “The Global Leader in Catholic On-line Donations and Payments”, a sort of Catholic version of Paypal. But as we’ve discovered, they’ve been no pal to Catholic organizations stretching across the county and beyond, all in God’s name.

His websites, “Catholic Financial Services”, Catholic Online, Your Catholic Voice Inc. and Your Catholic Voice Foundation are the focus of a major lawsuit by the Kern County District Attorney’s office alleging years of deceptive or fraudulent business practices.

The catholic.org domain is specifically mentioned in the news report.

Of all the sites mentioned, I’m aware of that site only. But I haven’t used it in years. Are they a big player?

Catholic.org is a wonderful site, much like CA. They have an active forum, and Fr. Z, as he is known (wdtprs.com/blog/), is the main priest on their fourms. That is where my husband and I met actually.

Sad to hear that they may be dragged into something ugly. 😦

I used to hang around there too. I remember this service. How awful.

Yes, but while I was a member there I noticed that several prominent people in the forums were at pains to say that the forums were totally separate from the other business at Catholic.org - usually it had to do with concerns over advertising which appeared in the forums, but I seem to recall other situations too.
