Islamists seeking the release of prisoners detained on war-crimes charges went on a rampage in Dhaka, Bangladesh’s capital, burning cars and looting shops. The nation’s leading prelate, …

The article in the firs post is based upon a UCA News article. That second article has some important clarifications:
We’re lucky no Church buildings were affected even though the road outside the cathedral looked like a battlefield,” said Father Kamal Corraya, the Dhaka archdiocesan social communications commission convener.
Archbishop Paulinus Costa of Dhaka wasn’t so lucky, having been struck by a stone in Ramna Park, which is next to the cathedral, just as the clash began.
The prelate was exercising in the park when he was struck and several seminarians went to his assistance, but luckily the prelate was unharmed, Archbishop’s House sources said.

It is good that the archbishop was not harmed, and that his being hit sounds like an accident. And it is good that Christian buildings were not targeted. South Asia has had many such attacks on Christians or Christian buildings in recent years.

Yep.
Better than being struck by a bomb, or a hail of bullets.

Indeed.

Yet even when struck by a rock, a person could possibly suffer a head injury causing serious injury. Thankfully that did not happen to the archbishop.

very true.

but don’t underestimate stones. i was stoned by kids in Iraq. it hurts and it can injure, maim or kill you. even with a helmet and body armor… a broken knee or shin. a rock coming in at 50 mph to the face can do a lot of damage. 10 of them coming from all directions is challenging.

in this case, i doubt he was in “battle rattle.” more likely shorts or a track suit if he was exercising.

Is that why you took the screen name? 😃

That`s a sobering thought!
Death by stoning must be a terrible ordeal.

Rock happy is a USMC expression meaning slightly crazy from island fever. The base in Okinawa is called “the rock”. It is an area with many small rock islands.
