I don’t believe in Banning.
I believe in sanctioning for a while.
I think that works.
I believe that unless someone has posted obviously aggregioius posts, they should get a good 3 chances. After that, permanent banishment.
But we need to experience loss of privilages for a while to realize what we have.
Now, I was unjustly banned because a poster came here insulting The Catholic Church and Catholics with vulgar comments. They deleted their posts after I jumped to The Church’s defense and I was left looking like the aggressor.
It got me mad enough to “not” want to ever come back, but after the moderators reviewed my comments and the bulk of my posts, they realized that I was wronly accused and the ones who did the accusing mostly were Catholics who cared more about our image than the truth.
I’ve learned to record quotes that offensive and to store them from now on so that when I whip out the Templar blade and get to slicin’, I’ll have the proof to show that I was defending our faith.
That way, “holier than thou” Catholics and bittler non-Catholic Christians who I soundly defeat in a debate can’t get away with their creative editing.
(Yeah, that might have sounded arrogant and boastful,
but it’s carefully worded to let those that I’m referring to know that their games arent’ going to work next time.)
I’ve learned to “not” engage with angry sounding non-Catholics and with “holier than thou” Catholics.
Sure, I could defeat them in a debate, however what will I gain, but lost time?
No one is worth this board losing those who contribute good honest debating points (both pro and especially con) regarding The Church.
I beleive that we should make an effort to recruit anti-Catholics to come here to espouse their beliefs. They will be like sparring partners. They will help us to sharpen our skills in defending our faith.
And some might even manage to remain non-Catholic Christians without having to be anti-Catholics.
Speaking personally, God has placed the right words in my mouth to turn around some anti-Catholics with whom I have formed good friendships now.
If we go through 10 of them and gain 1 convert from anti-Catholicism to at least being Catholic nuetral, then it’s worth it.
