Please, if you can encourage him to arrange for her to receive the Sacraments during her hospice. That is the greatest gift of love he can give her.

An anecdote of God’s mercy. A friend’s Filipino step-father was dying in the hospital. He had refused the Sacrament of Anointing - possibly through a simple misunderstanding of it. But, as the moment drew near, he asked for a priest.

Wouldn’t you know it, the priest on duty that day at the hospital just happened to also be a Filipino. The dying man received the Sacrament in Tagalog - fully understanding what was occurring. He received the Viaticum and as a second hymn was being sung, passed into eternity.

How can we ever comprehend Gods love and mercy?

I have been and continue to be a knowledge seeking hound. Over the years I discovered my quest for knowledge has fueled my pride. I discovered the antidote a few years back in the confessional. Be grateful for the gifts that God has given us and pride will diminish. As the song goes “Count your blessing name them one by one…”

WOW. This is a great story. Thank you for sharing. I wonder how many more have escaped me so far. Something tells me there are too many to read.

Oh she is ready and waiting for a visit from our Priest. He called this morning saying he will be here at 11:30 a.m. He always visits us on Monday, but this Monday he will bring Viaticum. Thank you.

These are the often forgotten or overlooked miracles that occur regularly. From atheist leader to Catholic priest because of his wife’s patient, Saint Monica-like prayers!

I believe it was St. Thomas Aquinas that stated "even the Angels in heaven can not comprehend the love of God.
