Baptist smashes Virgin Mary, gets applause

So I found a video on youtube of what I believe to be a fundamentalist baptist preacher mercilessly dishonoring the virgin mary and getting applause for it.

Now I know that there are certain people out there that accuse us of idolitry, but this guy takes it waaayy too far by trying to hurt us through hurting the mother of God.

lets just pray for his soul and maybe one day he will come home to the Lord’s Church
 
Why is it they never seem to host an academic speech, it’s always some allegation filled anti-catholic speech. Anti-catholic pastors, I mean. Some of them seem as like they care more about calling us evil than worshipping and following Christ.

It would seem you’re talking about a real person, but you’re talking about a statue here.

Probably not a valuable, or blessed, or consecrated statue. One not containing any relics.

Please refrain from idolatry and keep your perspective. Statues have no ears and may not hear; they have no eyes and may not see. We do not worship mere stone and marble, but we honor what they represent. Therefore, someone who smashes a statue cannot hurt the Blessed Virgin Mary, she lives in Heaven and in our hearts.

The heresy of iconoclasm is nothing new, it was alive and well in the eighth century, it nearly tore our Church apart. The Byzantines are quite familiar with it. And the Eastern Churches don’t even use statues, they use painted (written) icons.
 
The same thing happened in Brazil several years ago. A Protestant minister ridiculed and smashed a statue of Mary. This appeared on television! Not surprisingly, the Catholics in Brazil were very upset about this.

That’s truly sad. Didn’t Jesus want St. Faustina’s image venerated? 🤷

I think that it’s kind of funny though that the statue is a statue of St. Therese of the Little Flower. 😛
 
Are they forgetting they are being watched by Jesus? Why would anyone do that to a statue of His mother? I’m sure He’s not pleased about this.

Of course what the Baptist preacher did is disrespectful to the Catholic religion, but I agree with you on all the above.

I’m really curious as to who else agrees with you.

That is one of the most disgusting, vile, and hateful videos I have ever seen. We should make reparation to the Blessed Virgin Mary for abuses like this against her.

I know He is not pleased by this. He couldn’t possibly be pleased by this. He wants us to honor His Mother, not to dishonor and hate her! :mad:
 
When this man faces Judgement:

sees the Blessed Mother

Man: Oh, hey Mary…um…what’s up. :o
Blessed Mother: So, wanna go and get a hammer and smash my face now? :hmmm:
 
Well. That’s just depressing.

However, a few things:
  1. That’s not a Mary statue, judging by the flowers and crucifix being held, it’s probably St. Therese de Lisieux.
  2. He obviously doesn’t understand the context of statues. We never claimed that they were real people when in statue form.
  3. If he wants to take Mary out so badly, why doesn’t he just pull a Martin Luther and delete those parts from the gospels? And in that he would really be “doing the Bible” like he says. In fact, now that I think about it, why don’t all anti-Marian folk do this? It would better serve their purposes.
  4. I noticed that there is some sort of golden cross thing behind him when he was on the lower level? Is that not an image since there is no person?

In my experience, ignorance of all things Catholic (history of Christianity, where we got the Bible, etc.) is deep out there in Protestantland! Baptists I knew didn’t have a clue about what Catholics really believe, nor did I.

Dear Lord, help us to love your Mother as much as you did!

I think we have to call Catholic exorcists. That Baptist pastor may have a demon in him. Hahahaha. I hope Mary would send forth the sun and let his soul burn forever in it.
