According to the abstract from that link. Roman Catholic is in there. I have not heard too many Baptists publicly claim this in this day and age, but according to this article, one did.

I can’t say that some Roman Catholics aren’t Christians. However, there are such gaping problems with Roman Catholic theology that I can’t say with any real confidence that they are, either.

I’ll forgive your ignorance for you are new to this board, but we Catholics here are perfectly aware at how unchristian some Catholics (including some bishops, priests, etc.) are! 😃

That being said, it is my belief that there are people in all denominations who go to church regularly but are not actually Christians.

In short, some Catholics are Christians; some aren’t.

Some Baptists are Christians; some aren’t.

Some Lutherans are Christians; some aren’t.

Etc.

I forgot to say, “Welcome!” when I responded to another of your post. I am sorry that I did not notice that you are new. I spent about thirty years as a Southern Baptist myself. I remember way back when we even had a play once at a Catholic Church. I remember being impressed with the foot rests that folded down. This classification of Catholics as a cult would represent a drastic shift in thinking, if it is true. I have my doubts.

We pray with other Christians regularly and I don’t think I’ve ever known any other SBC members or SBC churches who wouldn’t, as long as their beliefs are orthodox.

As for Roman Catholics, I don’t believe it’s a cult and, as far as I know, the SBC has never classified it as such.

I know that this is going to make a lot of people mad, but if I’m going to answer your question honestly, then I’ve got to say it.

I can’t say that some Roman Catholics aren’t Christians. However, there are such gaping problems with Roman Catholic theology that I can’t say with any real confidence that they are, either.

I hate the idea of hurting anybody’s feelings, but I can’t lie about it.

I know this is going to make a lot of people mad, but if I am going to respond to your unsolicited opinions about whose theology is gaping and whose isn’t, then I’ve got to be honest.

I can’t say with any real confidence that people who call themselves christians, yet question whether or not a Catholic is a christian based on their own personal opinion of what is theologically correct, are really christians themselves.

Gee, I hate the idea of hurting anybody’s feelings, but I can’t lie about it. :rolleyes:

Doesn’t hurt my feelings. We already know what Roman Catholics think of us and, frankly, I, for one, couldn’t care less.

And, for the record, it wasn’t based on my personal opinion, but on what the Bible says.

I started a thread about this a while back. I wondered if protestant misconceptions of Catholic teaching came from the pulpit or from their seminaries. Well, the answer, obviously, is both.

It is sad that protestant seminaries do not teach the full truth.

First of all, it’s “should have”, not “should of”.

Second, if you’ll read my post, you’ll see I didn’t say that no Roman Catholics are Christians.

And you stated that Catholics arent Christians and it is in the bible…so I once again ask what passage in the bible states that Catholics are not Christian??
