Indeed. Yet another ‘plant’ for assaulting the Catholic Church. Scriptures will soon be ‘Hate Speech.’ Is there any doubt?

She quotes the old translation of the mass as justification for her behavior, which is a bit telling of her mass attendance. Even if she was just a C&E “Catholic” she should know that it’s now “Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof” not “Lord I am not worthy to receive you.” An occasional trip up is ok, I haven’t quite mastered the new creed yet myself, but if you’re quoting the mass for a newspaper article, you should make sure you get it right, or else not quote it at all. As for what she says in the article, there’s nothing wrong with admiring some aspects of Buddhism and Buddhist culture, but “one cannot serve two masters.”

Google let her down. Give her credit, she tried to sound like she knew what she was saying.

After reading some parts of the article I can’t help but feel sorry for her.
Then I go back to her forced and seemingly pre-meditated confrontation with Fr. Marcel.

perhaps, but I’m of the opinion that if you try to sound like you know what you are saying, you should know what you’re saying. Especially if you insist on making yourself a public figure like Ms. Johnson is doing. If you try to fake it, you’ll be found out sooner or later, (in the internet age, make that sooner) and you’ll look like an even bigger fool than if you just kept quiet. Just look at Sarah Palin!😉 I would have even let her get away with, “In the old translation of the mass it said…”

We should feel even more sorry for the authress of that dumb article: a total ignoramus!!! Her shooting off of a lot of worthless statistics is pathetic.

I’m more confused than ever about the plural religions and even here on CAF, we have identities of “Zen and Catholic Buddist.”

The Church alone and her abundant Treasury holds all there is to know about life’s answers…how is it that our minds are never satisfied even by God’s own revelation, or that obedience can never quite be complete?

btw, good job, Jason on the other thread. You charitably defended a good and faithful priest without getting smacked down! Kudos!!

Who the heck CARES what this ‘woman’ thinks?

Let’s stop giving her all this free publicity!

I’m tired of hearing about her and her perverted ‘lifestyle’! She should go away!

She set up Father Marcel!

And I’d rather support a good and holy priest of God than give her any more face time!

GRRRR…

It seems that Barbara Johnson is on her own spiritual journey, and I wish her all the best and will pray for her to find her way to Jesus’ truth.:🤷
I think that her action in introducing her Lesbian parter to Father Marcel was silly and childish. I think that Father was shocked and upset by this interaction and would have been wise to minimize the incident by giving her Communion. He had reached out to her in a pastoral way prior to Communion by reminding all present about the pre-requisites for receiving.
I think that her passing on her story to the news media was poor judgment on her part, showing that she does not have the appropriate respect for the spiritual journey of other people.
We are all imperfect and need to refrain from judging each other too harshly. I hope that I have not judged Barbara Johnson too harshly in this posting. :juggle:

That was my thought about a day latter. This article just lends evidence to the “fifteen minutes of fame” grab. We are not here to judge her. However, lesbian activity is gravely disordered and sinful, cutting off communion from the Church. Buddhism is incompatible with Catholicism and there is no such thing in the Bride of Christ as a Buddhist Catholic. That only exists in the cafeteria of one’s own imagination.

Immorality and heresy is certainly fair game for condemnation without judging an individual soul.
