In that case weren’t the Israelites guilty of such when they destroyed Canaanite idols?
 
And more properly said, an act of vandalism and a crime. I’ll stick with the Pope and the law over this young misguided youth

No, objective truths are objective truths. Civil laws, like vandalism, change with the ever changing societies … vandalism at the Vatican in 2020 is a crime

Theft is pretty universally regarded as a crime in human society and always has been. Yet the Israelites took the land of Canaan and destroyed property such as buildings and idols. So right and wrong is contextual?

No, I wouldn’t say that… what you describe is sounds like an act of aggression and maybe war… not really about objective truth.

I’ve read the book, but it doesn’t stand out particularly… but I don’t go chapter and verse typically… I’m a Catholic 😉

If you are referring to this quote, I don’t interpret this as go, steal your neighborhood stuff, and destroy it. I interpret that as exorcise your own false gods

Honestly, with all my wandering from Catholicism into Orthodoxy and now heading back toward Catholicism, I can say that truly, the Pope does not hold much sway with me anymore. And not just this pope in particular, but the papacy itself. When the Holy Father speaks through the magisterium and declares a new dogma or officially condemns an error, I will listen. Anything beyond that will be glanced at but will likely be ignored by me. Not out of pride or willful disobedience. But simply because the Pope’s personal opinions or day to day musings no longer have any effect on me spiritually (because I don’t let them). The Church is a mess, we all know this. But why worry? Instead, I posit, we all ought to focus on building up our daily rule of prayer and sticking to it consistently. Frequenting the Sacraments as often as needed/able and staying close to the Lord, the Theotokos and the Saints. Beyond that, there need not be anything more.
 
No government has the right to take away a title which it did not issue. When the last Emperor, Bl Charles, who was beatified in 2004, was forced out of office he did not abdicate but resigned his rights for himself. He did not abolish any titles.

The nearest the Austrian government can do is stop people putting their titles on official documents.

Fair enough. On the flip side, there is great argument for the opposite. If responsibility doesn’t play role that’s fine. I think it was Freud who said that if you can’t figure intentions of someone, look at consequences of their actions. I don’t see Catholic kid being part of something super confusing and refusing to clarify. Actually kid would have no real duty to clarify unlike Pope Francis.
 
Tell that to all the saints who destroyed pagan idols. Vandals, they were.
 
A faithful catholic. Nothing wrong on asking your Father to clarify a hard question. The Pope is the Servant of the servants of God, not some despotic king
