From Politico:
President Barack Obama has a worsening enthusiasm problem.

A new POLITICO/George Washington University Battleground Tracking Poll of likely voters shows Obama ahead of Mitt Romney 49 percent to 48 percent nationally, a statistical tie and a percentage point closer than a week ago.

The head-to-head numbers have held remarkably steady through the past three weeks, but there’s been a notable shift of intensity from the Democrats to the Republicans since the party conventions over a month ago. Most of the poll’s calls were made before Romney’s strong performance at the first presidential debate in Denver.

Only 73 percent who support Obama say they are “extremely likely” to vote, compared to 86 percent who back Romney. Likewise, 84 percent of Republicans say they are extremely likely to vote, compared to 76 percent of Democrats.
He’d better start revving up his supporters…

No, he needs to keep doing exactly what he’s doing so we can finally oust his abortion-happy *** out of the White House and get someone who actually thinks life is sacred leading our country.

I was once a Democrat operative myself. I can well understand a lack of enthusiasm on Democrats’ part.

Realizing that the Dem party is further to the left than when i was active in it, I can imagine Democrats being disappointed for the following reasons:
  1. They wanted full single payer healthcare. Obama caved to Pelosi and Reid and we got the mess called Obamacare. It’s very difficult to defend.
  2. They wanted out of all wars. He pulled out of Iraq, surged Af/Pak and attacked Libya without cause, congressional approval or anything else. He just attacked. It wasn’t even “preemptive”.
  3. He has done nothing at all for the truly poor, and seems likely to have harmed them with Obamacare. “Cash for clunkers” was a giveaway to the well off.
  4. Employment has not improved and, depending on what one looks at, could be considered to have declined.
  5. Middle class earnings have declined.
  6. The “fat cats” have benefitted quite a bit. Just different cats.

Let’s pray Romney makes it into office and we’ll have a Catholic VP! Let Romney focus on the economy since he is good at making money. And let Ryan focus on the moral decay of our nation by fighting against abortions, restoring marriage to what it rightfully is, reforming our welfare system to stop 90% of people on it from abusing it (drug dealers you know who you are). We need a strong Catholic voice to lead this country out of the mess it got itself into.

Good overview of how the Left base of the Dems. see the mediocrity of Obama.
I marked the date Sen. Lieberman in 2006 when he lost the Democratic Party primary and had to run as an independent as a major milestone of when the Left had become the major faction of the Democratic Party. They we’re not interested in just keeping the seat in the Party, but risked losing it to replace a popular Senator with someone “Left” enough.

Lieberman is pretty liberal. I think it was his support of the Iraq War when other Democrats turned against it that made him unacceptable to the leaders of the Democrat party.

This was a demonstration of his willingness to not tow the line. It’s not just any one vote, but the concept that he wouldn’t always follow the agenda that’s to slowly continue the “left turn”.

Back to “less enthusiastic”. The baseline of 2008 is extremely high. I know life long Republican voters that felt they had to vote along with the historic moment of voting for the first African-American President.

Well what do you expect? How DO you fire up the base of support? Energy requires simple rhetoric. What does President Obama got?

“Four more years… of mediocre leadership, scapegoating and economic lethargy!”
“Yeah you’re unemployed, but your sister now gets free contraceptives!”
“Don’t vote for the other guy or he’ll cut off your unemployment checks!”
“Go team, the rate of unemployment MAY have finally bottomed out!”
“Give us four more years, because your house has lost all its value yet!”

This is fun… 🙂
