Not that this site needs more threads about gay marriage, but this news article actually presents a side I haven’t run across before:
The gay people against gay marriage
As with all groups, there’s a variety of opinions and the media tends to show just one and we forget that not everyone fits the “commonly-held view” of the group.
This article presents arguments from non-chaste gay people who are against gay marriage. It struck me as interesting how their arguments are so close to ours:
*“We’re not going to procreate as a couple and while the desire to demonstrate commitment might be laudable, the religious traditions that have accommodated same-sex couples have had to do some fairly major contortions.”
“It’s demonstrably not the same as heterosexual marriage - the religious and social significance of a gay wedding ceremony simply isn’t the same.”*
As an aside, one of the things I love about CA is the presence of faithful and orthodox Catholics who are also chaste homosexuals. If not for this site, I wouldn’t even know of your existence, which I’m sure will never be acknowledged by the mainstream media. Thank you for being here and educating me!
